Blessing in disguise for Gurode?

We all know that Gurode has been playing very well for us this year. He's probably been the best and most consistent lineman we have. He has been doing a good job of protecting Bledsoe and opening up holes for Jones.

Some could even say he has had such a good start that if he continues in a similiar fashion that he should be considered pro bowl material.

However, that was unlikely to happen simply because he had very low name recognition outside of Dallas. But that has changed now. The whole country knows his name now after the Haynesworth incident. Everyone knows that Haynesworth was so frustrated by Gurode making him look like a no-talent kid that Haynesworth had to rip off his facemask and stomp on his face.

That name recognition will definitely help him when the fans vote and it will also get the attention of the players and coaches.

He probably had no shot at the pro bowl before the incident and still doesn't have a great shot even if he keeps playing at the same level he has been over the last three games. But, he definitely has a much better shot at getting to Hawaii now than he did before Sunday.

Usually seems to be a year "lag" ---ie you get it a year later than you should have, and get it a year longer than you should have in the nfl...

and .....Cowboys having a excellent record, JJ getting mega yards, low sack #'s for bledso will all contribute....but Boys getting strong playoff berth huge for all 1st time Pro=bowler wanna bees

Yeah when they start pronoucning his name "Gur-road" or "Gu-rode-ee" instead of Gerard then he will know he made it...

The incident was unfortunate, but the name recognition he is getting is invaluable and should help him get to the pro bowl, provided he continues his outstanding play.

He may be the next in line for a big payday/contract extension.

You know, that's a pretty creative and interesting take on the situation. I think you may be correct.

In the case of lineman, especially centers, it will take several years of excellent play to get recognized, especially with this.

He will get consideration if we WIN WIN WIN, and our running attack/pass protection is flawless.

It will also help when we play against Carolina and Madden is analysing the game. (he points out OLINEN play the most) and we need Aikman to start pointing out some of the things Gurode is doing..

Yep. Something similar happened when Warren Sapp cheap-shotted Chad Clifton...

If we win ballgames, then probowls will come to many wearing the star.
