I know Zeke makes a ton of $$ and is paid for other skills then blocking and Pollard never met a block he liked but the days of the plowing blocking FB in this NFL seems ancient .

I heard people wanting Ralston to make the cut but other then ST duties where does Kellen Moore have use for this position . Sorry Moose .

It's ancient for every team but there still are a handful of teams that still use one quite a bit. Ravens, Pats, Browns 49ers, Pitt, Vikings and a few others have some decent FBs that get more than a few snaps per game.

Since our base is 11, we don't really have a lot of snaps for a 21/20 formation. Ralston is on the PS, and with Sprinkle already at 2 PS callups he'll have to be assigned to the 53 to be called up again

Take a look at the better running backs and top running games in the league and they're still employing a fullback. To be a complete offense, I think a team needs a fullback, if for no other reason that in short yardage and goal line situations.

I think Sprinkle is keeping Sean KcKeon's seat warm for his return from PUP or IR (I forget which).

Give me Zeke or Pollard short yardage with the extra TE

Most teams in the NFL do not have a substitute fullback, though there are exceptions. The role can be filled by backup or number three or four TE's or bigger & less frequently used RB's.

Who can't use a bully like this?

I have met Lorenzo at a track meet in Lemoore, worked with his uncle Willie who ran track with Tommie Smith, Lorenzo out of Lemoore HS played at Fresno State.

I disagree. Give me two TE's and a fullback and keep Sprinkle on the practice squad. That gives me more versatility than three TE's.

The offense seemed to have moved the ball pretty swell so far with 49 points in 2 games. Pre season they were talking up Rico Dowdle . Didn’t see the need to have him either as anything other then PS , don’t need three RB’s game day.

And they were also - what? - one of four in the red zone in that loss to Tampa Bay? As good as this offense is supposed to be, they continue to struggle in short yardage and red zone. And that's what keeps them from being a truly elite one.

I agree that you don't need three running backs active on gameday. But that's not what we're talking about here.

Over the years people suggest nearly every big back play some fullback but…

I do think Zeke could get a few reps at fullback and look pretty good doing it.

I hope everyone has noticed that Zeke beyond his running skills is one of the best blockers in the backfield that is not a converted TE or Olineman, he puts on a clinic every week with his technique and execution. His rushing numbers do not reflect his value to this team with its rotating Oline issues. I have seen very few FB's who possess his talent at blocking.

I just don’t think a “ FB “ is going to solve any red zone issues this team might have. Better execution is probably the answer not Ralston or any other random FB

Pass blocking? You're right, Zeke is great at it and doesn't get the credit he deserves from many in that particular area.

If Dak can’t improvise then his timing is going to have to be great.

Or we could just run over teams and score but that’s not easy in that area of the field.

That Pollard TD should set up some nice plays in the future for others. That’s hard to defend.

Have wanted more Pollard in red zone since we drafted him

Again, take the time to do the research and you will find that the best running teams and offenses in the league find a way to carry and employ the fullback position. Look specifically at the top backs in the league like Derrick Henry or Dalvin Cook and you will find fullbacks leading the way. San Francisco's running game? Yep - fullback. Baltimore's? You bet! How about the Chiefs! Yep, they have one too.

Those teams can not only employ a successful run game, they can rely on it. If a team wants to be strong in all aspects of offense, a fullback is a key component.
