Blocking Out Noise In Seattle?

Whatever happened before, there’s always another play, another possession, another quarter, another game.

Week 3 will serve as a heck of a do-over for this Dallas Cowboys team. They failed their first test of the season when they came out flat against Carolina and lost an ugly game. How fitting is it, then, that two weeks later they get another opportunity to prove themselves in a hostile environment?

The Cowboys won their last game at CenturyLink Field, beating the eventual NFC champions, 30-23, in a classic. But that’s ancient history. That was a much older, more experienced Cowboys team – not to mention a vastly different Seattle Seahawks roster.

So let’s take a look at this year’s matchup for an idea of what to expect as the Cowboys try to improve to 2-1.

This Dallas team needs to focus on what they can control and block out all distractions, whether it is crowd noise, fans or the media. The offense has to score points and take the crowd down a decimal. The defense can blitz more if the Cowboys have the lead and we all saw the sacks come against the Giants. The key to winning is creating turnovers, pressuring the QB, controlling the TOP and moving the ball and scoring points. This team is special and the Cowboys will be victorious.

This is the march to the Superbowl. Enjoy the ride.

There will be no noise..there will only be awe..awe in that America's team has finally been reborn and they go back to their cars and shuttle busses a broken down crowd wondering what the hell has happened to the legion of boom?

They will also hope that wilson is ok after being tossed to and fro for much of the evening.

I see most of the writers on dallascowboys.com have Seattle winning, most thinks Wilson will be the difference.

I think Richards (Kris not Keith) is our ace card regarding that. Our DL should be able to keep him contained along with a now speedy LB crew. They’re also down their top WR, just keep the midget in the pocket like we’ve done in other instances and we should be good.
Meanwhile, ET possibly being out could be huge. Seattle is not a good team right now but they are at home and desperate for a win. I suspect we will get their best shot but if we are going anywhere this year this is a game we win. Lose and we’re probably looking at a typical JG .500 special again.

Seattle's loud fans in that stadium make it tougher for offenses to hear signals, no question.

Nevertheless, in the past, the Cowboys have had succes overcoming it using hand signals.

Wilson, is tough to contain, that's for certain but this defense has improved versus the run.

Wilson has been struggling this season. He's been pressured on nearly 38% of pass plays and has a QB rating of 27.7 when pressured, he also is near the bottom of the league in average yds running RPO. He's been holding the ball and making questionable throws. They will also be missing two starters from their already bad OL. I expect them to try and rush more often and maybe take a page out of the Cam/Dak playbook and get Wilson running to try and generate some offense. Our defense has to stay disciplined and stay in their lanes to contain him, he doesn't have many weapons to throw to with Baldwin out.

We'd better do a better job of containing Wilson than we did Cam. He's quicker and faster, and will kill us if we let him run wild.

You're 100% right, Jake. I'm sure the defensive staff will make sure to warn their players about it. Wilson could easily turn the game in their favor if they get careless. Hopefully, they'll have a some speedy defenders watching his every move. He's capable of running for big gains, no doubt. I'd think the staff should make it a point to show film of them being suckered by Cam last week and also by Wilson in the past.

I'm also hoping that we'll make it a point to play with the same sense of urgency that they're likely to.

Don't forget we also happen to have a coach that knows Carroll's, Wilson's and their Def. tendencies, strength's and weaknesses, better than anyone outside Seattle.

It always helps for a team to have someone familiar with their ways.

Kris Richard has firsthand knowledge of it and they'd best listen. ;)

If we get the ball let’s start fast, run it up and hit then in the mouths. If we go on defense push them back with a Sack on 3rd and start make them be loud but of “Booo’s”

This game is a defining game for this team this early in the season. It will tell us a lot about Dak and how much success we’ll have this year.

0-2 means nothing. Tough team. One of the top QB’s and the best home field in the league.

We must win.

Please Garrett. Please please kick if we have the choice. The 3rd quarter possession with less fans could be key.

Yes it is loud. However the noise is useless if their O Line continue to play like a sieve and Wilson keeps kissing the turf. This Seahawks team like last weeks Giants are an average team that if Dallas want to get to the playoffs they must beat.

Quite true. I noticed that earlier today. Wilson is always a factor in their success.

Hopefully, we'll be far better prepared for him this week than we were with Cam.

Yes like a spy this time. Cannot believe with a more dangerous runner than passer there wasnt a spy on Cam.
