BLOG: Tony Romo hasn't choked and Isn't Danny White

And Kelly has no rings. Parcells nailed it - Romo needs to stay on the reservation. Pocket QB's win Rings.

Name a running QB that won one? Young won his later in career after realizing he had to stay in pocket.

Tark - None
Randall - None
Vick - None

One could argue Roger the Dodger some but he was mostly in pocket and lost what 2-3 Super Bowls?

Elway was a pretty good scrambler at one point, and had a key run for a conversion in his first win.

Nors. Silly Comment.
Romo is not a running QB at all.
He totally scrambles to pass the ball - I actually think he could run a little more often.

Of which Tony has broken several. I hardly consider it an insult.

And while I think it is unfortunate and uncalled for, Danny White has always been labeled as a guy that was good but couldn't get the job done. That's just the nature of the beast when we couldn't get past the NFC Championship game.

Yet, with the numbers he put up, had he attached a ring or two to it....he'd be talked about as one of the "greats".
Stats are for losers. Danny white was a loser in 3 NFC championship games. remember him holding the ball to long and getting hit by Darrrell Grant? he fumble the freaking ball for a touchdown.the guy is a loser no matter what the stats say.

Elway only won later in career and was a much more pocket orientated QB. Heck even Bledsoe would take flight and go in head first some - but not a scrambler.

No once you bail the pocket and a lot you are defined as a running QB. Romo actually is at his best WCO and quick reads and accurate completions. Hence all his high % stuff over the years.

7/18/08 and Romo is upper right hand picture on the Zone - sweet!

For those that don't get it...

I've never criticized White. That's why I said "I like DW." He played when I was too young to really understand the game. My point is that I've heard/read all this criticism attached to him because he never won the big one. I think it's a silly criticism, but I understand why he gets it. Fans can be unreasonable.
Point I was going for is that Quincy Carter got to the Playoffs his 1st season as the Cowboys starter & LOST, just like Tony. While Romo is playing into his 2nd FULL season as a starter ( & now has another playoff loss under his belt ), while Quincy Carter isn't even in the LEAGUE anymore. Both Playoff QBs for the Cowboys but at least one still has a chance to get us at least one Playoff win. Romo just hasn't played long enough to compare him to Danny on ANY level. That's why I said compare him to Quincy. TROY was the QB that would have been compared with Danny & Troy passed with flying colors.
