I actually agree with some of that article. Romo is too much celebrity qb, he needs to give the camera a break and focus on playing deep into January or Febrauary. And Garrett did get over-aggressive with his play calling and left the defense hung out to dry more than once last year. There's a balance to keeping your foot on the pedal and allowing a tired defense to rest during a game. He needs to find that balance imo.

Even though hating that Cowboys makes you foolish. That has got to be some of the funniest stuff I have ever heard. You have me cracking up at work, I'm going to get in trouble. Good post.

There may be valid criticisms of Garrett and Wade, but lack of imagination is certainly not one.

I agree I think every player on the team should break up with their girlfriends and divorce their wives. They should all be celibate as long as they are a member of the Cowboys

whose with me!!!

I'm with you. You get paid $8+ million a year, I bet it might make you think about it.

I completely disagree. In fact, it irks me to no end when people describe Tony Romo as celebrity QB as if he did anything to cause that.

The part that drives me bonkers is that the media member who is saying that is the one currently stirring the pot.

Who made him into a "celebrity" QB? You(the media) did!

There are some things that Tony may have done to influence his status symbol but for the most part, he is the media's creation.

REASONS TONY ROMO IS A CELEBRITY QB:

1. Let's get this one out of the way first as this is the only reason I see that Tony has any control over. He dates hot, high profile women. So...what LIAR on this board would say they would not do the same if they were in the same positon as he is in? He can so he does. He walks in different circles than most of us. Why is that you asked? Because...

2. He plays the highest profile position on America's highest profile team (apologies to NY Yankees) in America's most popular sport (apologies to no one). In today's media age, if you are the QB of America's team...you will be news and cameras will follow. They follow Romo a little closer than recent QBs because...

3. He is actually a good, young, exciting player. He breaks records, and plays an exciting brand of football. The Cowboys are relevant to the media again. The story for the media is more intruiging because...

4. He is a good looking( so my wife tells me:D ), fun loving guy. I mean if Romo looked like Pat McQuistan, the camera's would not be so eager. To further the media's interest...

5. He is a great story. He came from nothing to NFL stardom. He (like GloboGym founder/owner/member White Goodman) created himself. People love to read about success stories that came out of nowhere to beat the odds.

So when I hear this crap about him needing to stop being a "celebrity" QB, what's he supposed to do wear a face shield ala Michael Jackson?, be a hermit, or move into the Ranch full-time and never leave the premises?

Nah, my advice to Tony would be to say "Screw ya'll! I live and breathe football, I practice hard and spend more time than most guys at the Ranch. I give back to the community during my off-season while I am preparing my body and mind for the upcoming season. You( the media ) do not know or seem to care how much I am doing to get better and lead my team to a championship. You will write what you write to sell papers, that's your job. It is impossible for me to please everyone, so as long as I have my team first, (which I do) I will continue to live my life the way I see fit!"

Ok, look forward to another playoff loss. How many playoff losses are we gonna go through? Please bring this thread up when playoffs come.

Romo needs to focus more is all i'm saying. When you win a superbowl then I'll cut you some slack and you can go screw whoever you want.

I HOPE TO EAT SOME CROW!!! PLEASE BRING THIS THREAD UP AGAIN DURING PLAYOFFS.

Sorry Big Man but your a little off and stating that the Boyz want win the Big one is really going out on a limb. The odds are they won't win the Big one just as all the other NFL teams want either however their odds might be better and here's why:

No. 5 No Homerun Threat in the Rungame - are you referring to 2007 or
2008 ? Felix Jones brings a dimension not seen since the Dorsett days a Homerun threat receiving and running out of the backfield makes this rungame more potent than last year. The Cowboys were smart taking Tashard Choice who runs similar to Marion Barber and would come in for Barber if needed and do a nice job.

No. 4 Very questionable statement. There isin't hardly a team in the NFL with much more Playoff Experience than Dallas. If your talking about currently only two teams would have more that even matters those being Colts and Patriots and if you notice both are in the AFC.

No. 3 NFC Competition. WOW incredible comment considering the Boyz did pretty good in their Division last year and with more talent on their team see no reason they want go 6-2 in their Division and even better in the NFC. The bottom line there are not very many teams better in the NFC which translates to a Playoff spot which at that point records are wiped out anyway. Also Brad Johnson will not be the Backup QB.....Watch and See.

No. 2 Tony Romo at age 28 and back to back trips to the Playoffs have given him much needed experience and will pay off this season. If he can stay healthy than Tony will be just fine. The Backup QB is more of the Question.

No. 1 The Coaches Wade Phillips/Jason Garrett. If you worry about Wade Phillips your wasting time because he is playing the Puppet role this season. If you watched the Cowboy Offense last season they averaged a rediculous amount of points per game something like 35 points. The Cowboys Offense will be even more potent this year with Felix Jones in the backfield rather than Julius lack of confidence Jones. This Offense under Garrett with one year behind them will be even better, now will they score 35 a game not neccessarily but they may control the clock more and limit other teams Offenses from having the ball.

In closing one thing you fail to mention is the biggest factor the Cowboys improved during the Offseason was Special Teams with Punt and Kickoff returns with Adam Pacman Jones. He will give the Pokes much better field position which will create points and more points in the long run. He in my opinion may be the one single reason I like the Pokes odds of the Big One.

I read the title of this thread, and barely even skimmed the first paragraph of the blog before concluding it was not worth my time.

Honestly, how many of these amateur blogs do we have to endure regarding the immenant demise of the Cowboys?

It's hard to NOT be a celebrity when you're young, good looking, smart, funny and above all, the starting quarterback for the greatest sports team in the known universe; the Dallas Cowboys.

When Tony puts out a rap album...then we know it's all gone to his head. Until then, he's doing nothing wrong IMO.

I agree with the Tony Romo perspective. Tony needs to focus on football starting now. No more golf tourneys or Jessica BS.
