Here's my stab at the final roster. Note that I wrote this before the news of DeVonte Holloman's injury surfaced.

Roster projections feel eerily like fantasy football rosters, and I’m no fan of fantasy football. There’s no bigger beating than some bloke at work outwardly wrestling in self-debate over whether to start Ryan Tannehill or Carson Palmer. If you’re said bloke, trust me on this, NOBODY CARES……EVER.

That said, I readily admit that roster projections hit closer to home when it comes to our team, especially right now, a mere 18 scorching days from Showtime. It’s good fun to guess along with what the coaches are thinking.

Fascinating machinations are taking place across the league, as position coaches fight for their respective units and guys. Every team is different, heavy in certain positions and dangerously thin in others. The defensive front seven is the painfully obvious worry here, so my list carries the more obvious legal disclaimer: “Ain’t all our dudes here yet.”

Clutts won't make the 53 and Scandrick doesn't count towards a roster spot for 4 weeks so he can add 2 more DL/LB to that projection

Interesting writing style.

Lawrence has to be on the 53 at the cut down date. They can place in on DFR-IR a day later at which time they can re-sign another player. They can't however, prevent that extra player from going through waivers. They could cut a guy like Hayden and tell him they'll re-sign him a day later.

Scandrick will not count against the 53 while on suspension.

Wetzel is a RT only. Weems is still out injured. Parnell is the only legit swing Tackle on the team at this point.

I think you had Holloman on your roster, but he is likely out this year.

I think Clutts, or some fullback, does. But you're right about Scandrick, which opens the door for Wilson, Boatright, or Minter.

However, remember that if a player is on the opening roster Week 1, their salary is guaranteed for the season. Teams don't like to pay guys they're not really serious about for that long.

They did use a FB on some plays in the Ravens game. Clutts looked OK. He's the type of player that would probably remain available if they cut him and wanted to re-sign him later.

Nobody wants to use a roster spot on a FB as opposed to shiny exciting positions like RB #4 or WR #6.

Then they realize how darn useful FBs are in goal line situations in scoring touchdowns..... then the decision to keep WR#6 doesn't seem so smart anymore.

My gut is that they ultimately add 4-6 players that aren't currently here via trade or waiver wire.

Joseph Randle might be an interesting trade piece. He'd bring more than just a bottom feeder in return, especially from some of these teams with running back injuries piling up. Dallas has RBs, WRs, and OLs that might be tradable to teams with depth on the d-line or at linebacker.
