Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III, 24, the former Gopher who needs 19 yards against Washington on Sunday to reach 1,000 for the season, can expect a new five-year contract in the $25 million range, including a signing bonus of about $10 million, before next season. -- Pioneer Press

This is a good deal for everyone involved if true......but I'd rather our focus be on URFA than RFA

But it makes good sence to sign him at todays going rate better than 2009 rate - when it will cost a lot more.

This is also the ticket out of Dallas for Julias.
We should be able to pick up a back in the draft to replace him.

There's really no teeth to this. This is just a newspaper speculating what Barber might get when he's extended - not "Barber is extended."

Barber could get more than 5 mill a year.

If we sign him for that much then we got ourselves a great deal.

I'll be glad when it's a done deal. Speculation doesn't really count for much.

But coming from his hometown newspaper back in Minnesota... You wonder if they've heard something.

people in the NFL should be more tough like him but not everyone is a barbarion.

Julius Jones must be kicking himself - that, or blaming Parcells for Barber's fortune. :lmao2:

For whatever the reason, Julius never lived up to his potential ... he flashed some brilliance early on, and has teased us with it ever since.

But he's not the back who exploded onto the NFL in his rookie year.

You know, I would really like to see Jerry's money plan. Lots of money going out and I'm not exactly sure where the rest is going to come from to sign other players that we want to keep.

He should be paid as much as Clinton Portis, well twice as much since he produces just as much on 100 less carries.

Rosenhous is his agent, so you know he's going to get paid.
