Carpenter has been an early disappointment, in part because he hasn't fit the team's scheme. Carpenter started out as an inside linebacker in Mike Zimmer's 3-4 defense. He recently was tried as an outside linebacker. Now he has been moved back inside. Carpenter might be a man without a position. Some think he's too short and not quick enough to pass rush as an outside linebacker, and he might lack the cover skills to be a three-down inside linebacker. (Dan Pompei/SN)

I suggest a move to the Rant Zone.

Carp's lack of PT has more to due with our depth at LB then his skills. He will be fine. Rememeber Bradie James, sure glad we didn't give up on him after 1/2 aseason.

When Carp replaces Ellis in 2 yrs we will not hear complaints about him any more. We are too well stocked at LB for him to play now.

I wonder if in the end he'll be KP. I'd like to hear some legitimate scouting on him.

Ellis has been playing pretty darn well... not sure what you're saying here, maybe I misunderstood you.

Ellis was arguably the best player on the field for the defense last night.

maybe so, but Ellis hasn't exactly been a liability in coverage

Sorry, but a guy that's been playing as good as he has, has to see the field more than on third downs.

All the time?? I don't know the stats on it, but we're not in the nickel on first downs, and maybe 20-30% of the time on 2nd downs.

I'm sure he can collect jockstraps and towels after practices.

i recall when alot of people wanted to cut Romo so Henson can become 2nd stringer, if not the first week of his training camp.

lets wait out judgements here.

Pompei didn't get his story right. Carpenter was drafted to be the outside guy and has been moved to the inside. He might go back outside next year, who knows. I did have concerns about his height and pass rush ability on the outside before we drafted him, but I would think Parcells knows linebackers better than fans and an idiot like Pompei.
