Oh, and for crying out loud we run a 3-4 defense. OLB is the single most important position on a 3-4 defense.

Yeah, and the detroit lions need WR's.....

Of course a team needs linebackers in a 3-4, but now we have 4 1st round picks playing LB, plus a 2nd, and a big free agent pickup. How many more resources do you throw into a position. It's not a terrible pick, but 3 first round picks into one position in 3 years is kinda overboard atleast just a little. If he plays well I'll be happy regardless, I'm just dissappointed right now at giving up our third for another linebacker. Atleast it wasn't a safety, so I'll be happy over that.

I wish we could have traded our late 2nd round pick instead of our early, but we got a 1st for a 3rd and 5th, and still got the guy we wanted... lets be real... we made out like bandits...

SILB - Akin Ayodele
SOLB - DeMarcus Ware (I think you move him strong side), Greg Ellis

None. We're set at the position for years. We've got 2 young OLBs that can get to the QB. We've got a young, athletic ILB that can play. We've got playmakers at 3 out of the 4 LB positions. What more could you ask for?

It's not 3 first round picks for one position.

Imagine that we play the 4-3. Now imagine that we took 1 pass-rushing DE in 05, 1 playmaker OLB in 06, and 1 pass-rushing DE in 2007.

Would that be fine with you? That's essentially what we did.

Oh, and in the meantime we traded a 3rd and a 5th for a 1st round pick.
