Cute, but unfortunately in this case there is actually plenty of evidence to support most people's disdain for Carpenter. He's most noticeable on passing third downs when he typically gets sucked up into the line against the screen, or attempts to make an arm tackle or to try to run a RB out of bounds. Most of his pursuit angles are horrendous and he prefers to reach around.

Fixed.

That always confuses me. Not many threads dedicated to Ratliff, Ware, Gurode, Davis and many others but these two guys have a ton dedicated to them.

Wonder what it is that they have in common that makes them such hot topics........

I think someone should investigate this matter. I nominate Bob.
It's a puzzler, alright. Thankfully, CowboysZone is the perfect place for some individuals to unload about one topic (e.g. Williams) on Monday. And for the same individuals to unload about the same topic on Tuesday. And for the same individuals to unload about the same topic on Wednesday. And for the same individuals to unload about the same topic on Thursday. And for the same individuals to unload about the same topic on Friday. And for the same individuals to unload about the same topic on Saturday. And while the same individuals are watching the game, they will be able to unload on the same topic on Sunday.

Luckily, Monday would break the cycle. Nope. There's [strike]partically[/strike] nothing else to talk about as far as the Dallas Cowboys are concerned.

Somehow, WilliamsZone doesn't ring true for me. It's does for some though. Reality may have to consider redesigning the site's logo.

Psychoanalysts hate the internet simply for the therapeutic advantages it provides for the general public. Bob knows. Bob..? YO! BOB!

That guy's never around when you really need him!

Misjudged? Who here has misjudged Bobby Carpenter?

Top 20 pick, I don't think anyone has misjudged his overpowering ineptness.

Great, Bobby exceeded expectations for this season. How awesome. What a consolation prize for a guy who has fallen so short of every other expectation since he has arrived that expectations are now at rock bottom.

I don't think there is anything he could have done that would have lowered expectations from where they were at heading into the year. Seriously, expecting anything less would almost be expecting him to retire.

Again, I never said he was living up to the lofty first round expectations.

What he has done is turned himself into a solid contributor - many folks on this board had left him for dead - and even you still note his "overpowering ineptness" -- of course, an overpoweringly inept player certainly wouldn't be playing major snaps for any NFL team.

If you want to keep focusing on his draft status fine - but the real issue with any player is whether or not they can play in this league -- the rest is gravy. Bobby may not bring the gravy ... but he is showing that he can play in this league and will likely do so for many years.

I wonder who's the next scapegoat for Cowboys fans once Roy, Carpenter, Flozell and Hamlin leave lol.

Could you imagine how his team would look if it was ran off the popular opinions on this message board?

First of all, no player would be given any developmental time.

Any player who has a bad game or a couple of bad games would be gone.

Jay Cutler would be the quarterback. Keith Brooking would not be here, along with a lot of other players and all of the coaches.

Etc.

Now, I know those are probably not majority opinions, but we have a very vocal minority here.

The fickle fans gave up on Gurode years ago and just tolerate him now until we can find someone better than a Pro Bowl center, who obviously only made it to the Pro Bowl because Albert Haynesworth stepped on his face.

We didn't know what we were doing when we signed Davis because he sucked as a tackle and we way overpaid for him. Him turning into a Pro Bowl guard seems to have silenced those complaints, though.

Ratliff is too small to play nose tackle (even though he's great at it) and has to be moved to defensive end, where he'd obviously play better than his Pro Bowl level at NT. We're using him wrong ... blame Jerry, blame Wade, blame the homers on this board.

We never should have drafted Ware. We should have drafted Merriman. Oh, wait, Merriman used steroids and now sucks. We knew Ware was the better pick all along.

Id have gone with Quinn, traded a 4th rounder for Moss, signed Ray Lewis, Drafted Cromartie and kept TO.

Championship!
