Okay I am going to make the boldest prediction I have ever made. I am going to predict right now that if the Patriots make the playoffs next year it will be due to a down to the wire battle for the last wildcard spot with Cinci. Yes Cinci. Now some of you are sitting around pondering what kinda meds I am on but let me explain myself befor you go filling out those 302 papers you just printed out. I have been looking around at some free agents that might make a good fit for us and came across a few intresting things. I also read up on some players that may be cut next season to free up cap room for certin teams and well let me show ya.
WR's: Moss Free Agent, Stallworth Cut (a stipulation in his contract allows N.E. to opt out of his contract saving a nice chunk of change in cap space.) Brown Free Agent.
CB's: Gay Free Agent, Scott Free Agent, Samuel Free Agent.
LB's: Vrabel Free Agent, Bruschi Free Agent, Colvin Free Agent.
FS's: Baker Free Agent, Mitchell Free Agent, Willson Free Agent.
DL's: Wright Free Agent.
OT's: Britt Free Agent.
SS's: Harrison Free Agent. Sanders Free Agent.
G's: Hochstein Free Agent.
DE's: Warren Free Agent.
QB's: Castle Free Agent.

And the loss of one of their first round picks will hurt them a bit as well. They may have been able to pick up a good corner like King at the end of the 1st round to fill the void of one of thier CB's with that pick. Seau is getting up there and will not be able to contribute as much next year esspecialy not without the cast of players around him that they will lose to Free Agency. The following players will also begin to show their age.
Kyle Brady 13 years pro.
Larry Izzo 12 years pro.

So between Age, Free Agency, Cap and Loss of Draft picks. and the possible loss of their offensive corrodinator the Pats decline will begin next season. This is how I see the AFC going.

AFC Playoffs
New York Jets - East
Indianapolis Colts - South
Pittsburgh Steelers - North
San Diego Chargers - West
Tennessee Titans - Wildcard

Cincinnati Bengals
- Wildcard
New England Patriots

Warren, Vrabel, Colvin, Harrison, Sanders, Cassel and Hochstein are all under contract for 2008 -- and some beyond that (Warren, for example, is signed through 2013).

The only thing I come away wondering it how lonely are you and who the heck is thinking about wild card positions in 2009 when we are in week 9 of the 2007 season.

Wherever you're getting that list from, it's wrong. Sometimes VERY wrong.
