Boneheads and Underachievers

No matter who coaches this team in the future, in order for it to improve there are some players that need to be off this roster before next training camp. After what I saw in Arizona the other night these guys have to be gone. When it comes to underachievement these guys always seem to be in the middle of the next stupid play/penalty. The bonehead plays just can't continue:

Buehler- for obvious reasons namely no consistency/dependability from 40 yds and in
Brooking- Too old and slow. Thanks for the brief good play of last season. Good leader who's done.
Ball and Sensabaugh- Neither can cover a rock. Can't win in NFL with bad safety play.
Olshansky- Brings nothing to the table that can't be gotten from Josh Brent.
Barber- Suddenly just lost it. (And I was his biggest fan at one time)
Spencer- Is asked to do one thing- rush the passer- and aside from the final 6 games last season hasn't done it with any regularity.
Colombo- Tough guy but he's just done. He gave his best but injuries catch up.
Bennett- Total dog since he's been here. Has contributed zero. With John Phillips coming back next year he has no role. The poster boy for Jerry's draft philosophy of gambling on a guy's potential upside rather than bringing in guys who have made major contributions at major programs. Should have traded him to Bengals when we had the chance.
Spears- This ship has also seemed to sail. Too many invisible performances in his time here. Not exactly Parcells' finest hour.

In essence- replace these people with guys who want it more. You know- the Lees, McCanns, Brents and McCrays of the world.

Boneheads and Underachievers?

THE WHOLE COWBOYS TEAM THIS SEASON.

Why stop with only one?

Igor, Leonard Davis, Colombo, Barber, Brooking need to go

Some others should go but its not as dire

There are many players that need to go before Buehler. Yes, missing an extra point is bad, but a couple years back Vinierai missed 3 in one season. Since this is Buehler's rookie year kicking, rookies get extra chances.

Barber - removing the helmet - done
Columbo - just done
Davis - just done
Brooking - just done
Ball - move back to corner, no future at safety
Newman - just done
Bennett - just done

One player?

Buehler will be here next season.

As to consistency/dependability.. he's hit 10 of his last 11 for us.

Top notch reasoning there. Any questions?:laugh2:

Who the heck is Vinierai? Sounds contagious.

Good one. I think we all know who I meant. Maybe if he had an easy name like "Joe", I could spell it.

Newman is still a very good player but he has been quite banged up since the first Giants game. He has been the best player in our secondary overall.

As for Bennett, I think he has played quite well this season. He doesn't get out in the pattern as the 1st or 2nd option very often because of the surrounding talent but has done reasonably well with his opportunities. He is still a great run blocker but our ability to use him on the edge is limited by the lack of athletic ability of the OL on the squad (other than Kosier and Free). I would agree that we shouldn't have spent a 2nd rounder on a backup TE but that is irrelevant at this stage because we can't undo that draft selection.

Disagree on Buehler. Can't miss 2 XPs in one year. But it's not just that, it's that you never know what you will get from him kick to kick. It isn't all about leg strength. I've seen enough. He should've been released right after Arizona if Garrett is truly about accountability. I don't care if there's only one more game to go. It sends a message to those who are comfortable. See Richards, Curvin during the Jimmy era for exhibit A.

done list: brooking, columbo, davis, newman, barber, james

boneheads: barber, gurode, RW11, gronk, sensebaugh, jenkins

underachievers: felix, bennett, olshansky, spencer, jenkins, austin, RW11

get rid of everyone on the done list. get rid of everyone who is on any of these lists twice. bench the rest.

ball doesnt fit into any of these lists cause he just sucks at safety, move him back into the nickle as a corner.

You want to cut Newman and Bradie?

You also want to bench Jenkins, Felix and Miles Austin?

Outstanding work, captain short sight.

I posted the same thing right after the game.

Would disagree on Felix Jones. Has been much better post Phillips now that Garrett took the diapers off of him. He has breakaway speed which is hard to find. Make him and Choice a two-headed monster and go to war with that. We've seen it can work.

Jenkins is certainly an underachiever but considering there's nowhere else to go and the likelihood that Newman will not be back due to age/contract I'm willing to gamble for one more year with him.

And yes I forgot about RW11. See there's so much riff-raff on this team that Roy is actually considered not as bad by me as those I mentioned.

Again, Vinatieri missed 3 in one season. Guess that means he's not one of the greats now though huh?

Btw.. Buehler missed one PAT. The other was blocked. Either way you talk about consistency and improving, and Buehler is doing that. Has hit 10 of his last 11 for us.

Garrett is about accountability, not stupidity.

austin and felix arent on the list twice so no you dont bench those guys.

jenkins could use a kick in the arse and maybe a benching would wake him up

if you watch football enough would see that bradie does nothing. he's not athletic enough to make plays and he cant shed tackles. sure if the running back happens to run into him he'll make the tackle or if there is an open lane with no one to impede him then he'll make a play. is he good against the run, no. is he good at rushing the passer, no. is he good in coverage, no. so what is he good at?

newman... yeah he's been done for a few years now. ive never seen anyone get burnt as much as he does deep.

obviously your reading comprehension and your football eyes fail you, sorry
dude. its people in the organization who have the same attitude as you that driven those team into the ground. they are so against change its pathetic. instead of seeing the problem and correcting they stay course thinking somehow players who are done and have been done will somehow find the fountain of youth. nothing is going to change until you try to change it. jerry please see the patriots as a the model.

if it were up to me, sean lee would have been starting when healthy. dez would have been starting when healthy. sam young would be starting. hell play one of the young guards instead of davis. barry chruch would be starting. start choice instead of felix, its not like felix is lighting it up as much as id like for him to. i'd like to see more of vic butler and less spencer. i'd like to see some more brandon williams.
