I honestly don't know why there isn't more talk about this around here.
Here we have Miami with the 1st pick of the draft, and Stephen and Jerry making a trade last season with Cleveland, thinking and hoping of picking up McFadden.
Cleveland started having a good season, and we started having a great season, so the measure of reality of picking him up in the draft concerned Jones and it started to become less realistic.
That is until a couple weeks ago when Bill Parcells all of a sudden became in charge at Miami.
Now we already know that Parcells loves to trade away top draft picks and loves multiple draft picks, especially players that can play more than one position.
You have to believe that Jones shared his manlove for McFadden while Parcells was about to leave, and now here we have a perfect scenerio.
Julius Jones is done, he will be gone next season.. Barber isn't a "give me the ball type player" a terrific team player at that, just wants to help the team win. An excellent change of pace back, even Parcells said he's the best back on 3rd down.. I don't think he is the kind of back to play 20-30 carries a game, but still is a player that makes an impact when he is on the field.
Now, as you read this you are probably thinking 1 of 3 things.
1) I am on to something
2) I'm a complete idiot, (you are probably the guys on the board who are ranting about secondary or WR pickups)
3) You also have manlove for McFadden.
I can sense a Deuce/Bush combo here, that has worked out fine for them, but this will be more of a mean combo.
Lets fast forward to the potential next year.
We are 13-3 with this offense right now. We have always had the potential but just haven't had the right playcalling (see conservative 101, 2004-2006). You may be knocking Garret right now, but why? the Detroit game he gave us an excellent come from behind victory. This would in no way have happened if it was Parcells playcalling. The Philly game was just garbage. Jessica was there, and don't tell me this didn't effect anything, it did (see Parcells' commandments to Romo). Romo was also playing with a hurt thumb and couldn't get in-sync. The Carolina game was ugly, but we won.. TO went down with an injury and you have to imagine how hard it is to totally flip your gameplan without TO.. YES IT IS A DIFFERENT TEAM, our offense is built around him. Then the game against the skins, I don't see why you can look at this game either. Glenn came into his first game in the worst of conditions, his first game under Garrett's offense, the pick set the momentum and then Glenn was out of the game. So that left us with Crayton, Miles Austin, Sam Hurd, Witten and Jones. Well none of these guys in my opinion are number 1 or number 2 receivers. I think Crayton is an excellent #3 and will be. Where are you guys that were bringing up how the Colts played tough? Were they playing with their 3rd, 4th, 5th string WR's with a 1st season offensive coodinator on the road in conditions like last night?
So here we could have:
Romo in his 2nd year in this system
A healthy TO, Glenn, Crayton, Witten.
and Barber and Mcfadden in the backfield.
If Glenn decides he can't come back healthy, then all that means in my opinion is that JJ will pick up a solid #2 to take his place. Great, that can sometimes put Owens, ?, Glenn and Crayton on the field at the same time.
Thank you for your time.
