Booker: we got a football player

No. I expected us to not set ourselves up to have to now draft a RB and WR with our next two picks and telegraph exactly what we have to do.

I also expected us to not count on players being there in the second round because we drafted a player we really didn’t need in the first.

If this team has filled the RB and WR holes in FA this pick makes sense.

They didn’t.
They haven't telegraphed anything. Everyone had them picking RB last year on Day 2. How'd that turn out? Again, you are hypothesizing that it's possible to fix everything in one off-season. Getting a RB and a WR today, wont change the outcome of this season. It might make it more fun to watch. It's only some fans who think they HAVE to get a Rb and WR in the first 3 rounds. It might be preferable. But it's not a necessity except for narrow-minded people.

How many 100 yard games did he have once he was lead back?

Running the ball wasn’t the problem, Hoffman was fine.

There was 0 need to spend a top 20 pick on a guard.
There was no NEED to draft any particular position in the top 20. That's my point. They chose the player, not the position.

Nolen is a 3 down player. There are plenty of people who think Grant will be as well. The guy can play and has lots of upside. I would suggest you watch him
Re your other comments, you are contradicting yourself. Literally the same is true about the guy we picked.
There are plenty of people who think he won't be much as a pass rusher. This is my point and it's why I brought up how this draft stinks - if Grant doesn't turn out to be a three down player, he's for sure not worthy of a top 15 pick. You can justify a mauling guard with some athleticism issues in the top 15.

Man, the Brock Hoffman disrespect is crazy. The line got way better once he was inserted. We just had a mediocre RB and lacked a real weapons that were a threat outside besides 88. OG was not a need, it was just a safe pick that’s it.
Maybe Hoffman stays at guard and Tyler Smith takes Steele’s spot. That was my first thought when I saw the pick.

He is a good player no doubt but Grant would have been the wiser choice. He would impact the run defense immediately. I can’t be unhappy with the trenches getting some love but it was on the wrong side.
Grant is a good player too, no doubt.

Did you have Grant higher then Booker?

Do you still feel that way if Dallas had Booker rated higher then Grant and went with best player available on their board?

Lol.

Everyone as in who? The draft nerds?

I’m talking about telegraphing to NFL teams. I don’t really care what Mel kiper thinks.

The guys that live and breathe football know exactly what the cowboys are doing, and Stephen’s comments today about not needing to draft a Wr or RB further solidify that point. To people that understand the game and also understand the Jones family.

Picking a guard last night shows the NFL world they will be going after a WR and RB tonight.

If they don’t, then the weapons on offense are still.

CeeDee lamb.

That’s it.

Remember you said you'll pick at 12 would have been Golden? He ended up going to the Packers. Here's what they had to say about him.

lol. You don’t think DT is a need?

I would say CB is a bigger need than guard was.
The point is they have needs everywhere except kicker. But they can only choose 1 player at a time. So they dont need to pick one need over the other. They just chose who they thought was the best player. We are talking about replacing Hoffman or Elam or Mazi. They all need replaced. They chose the player they had rated higher. It's not a difficult concept to comprehend.

All it showed is they graded Booker higher than Egbuka, Golden and Hampton. Nothing else. Would you have passed up Abdul Carter? Because by your logic thast would have telegraphed WR and RB tonight.

That isn’t my logic at all.

Carter you don’t pass up, just like you don’t pass up CeeDee at 17.

Don’t compare Booker to these 2. It’s apples to bowling balls. Replacing Lawrence on that side of the DL is monumentally more important than upgrading an already serviceable guard in Hoffman.

If carter was there I would have ran the card to the podium.

Certain players make needs irrelevant. Booker isn’t one of them.

and telegraph WR and RB for today. You're in the same position.

Maybe.

But you didn’t spend a top 12 pick on a guard, you got a player who instantly impacts a weak position.

Guard wasn’t a need. You can put the Great Wall of Dallas back on the field, Dak has no one to throw to and no one to run the ball.

At least with Carter you have him and parsons destroying opposing QBs so you don’t have to score as much.

Right now with this defense this team needs to score 24 plus a game.

Who’s scoring those touchdowns? Or are they leaning on Aubrey’s leg all year again?
