I HIGHLY recommend this video for anyone interested in defensive players that Dallas might pick. Bootleg football is two of the more knowledgeable football guys that you’ll find anywhere on YouTube.

They know their ****, they have talked to and interviewed many of the prospects, and their views on prospects seem to mirror my thoughts on many of the players. Brett Kollmann in particular is an X’s and O’s guru who truly understands the game.

Anyway, this is some of their favorite draft prospects from the defensive side of the ball, and unsurprisingly, many of them have been pet cats of mine (Scott, Rodriguez, Delane). Dillon Theineman, Mansoor Delane, Colton Hood, Jacob Rodriguez, Keionte Scott, Sonny Styles… they go over these players (and others) in a very thorough take on their strengths and weaknesses.

They do have the times listed on each player in the description. Just click the time to go to that particular player. Makes it easy to watch the guys you’re interested in.

Like I said, highly recommended video. If you’re going to watch one video before the draft, it should probably be this one. Even though it is almost an hour and a half long.

Come and get ya football fix.

First thought while listening to this

I think the Cowboys not being interested in Thieneman has legs. They’re saying Thieneman better suited as a deep FS, I think that spot is secured by Thompson. I think Dallas will focus solely on best nickel player

That’s a shame because he is likely to be the best defensive player on the board when they pick. Maybe Thompson at big nickel and Thieneman at FS.

I still think Dallas moves up

Don’t think Dallas wants to use Thompson as big nickel
They can use Durant at Nickel. Or Kendrick. Or move Blamd back there. Even tough they said they prefer him at CB. They will position the best where they pick up Parker’s defense.
Or should anyway.

What they can do and what they want to do are different things. Finding a pure nickel is a priority in this draft. The team has said it themselves.

Part of the reason I prefer a trade down is because I want to come away with a pass rusher, middle linebacker and cornerback in the first couple of rounds. I think Rodriguez (or Allen) and Scott are good targets at LB and CB. I'm not sure who would be worth targeting at DE/OLB with a trade down from 12, though. After Bailey, Reese and possibly Bain, I'm just not sure who is going to be good value at DE/OLB and who is going to be Taco. I hope we get it right.

I’m kinda feeling that way too because I keep seeing guys that I think will be very good getting picked around 25-40, and I want some picks there.

If 12 is going to be wiped out, move back if possible and add a late 1 and a 2. That could be Scott and Rodriguez if it falls right.

I think both are going to go earlier than people are thinking tho.

That’s a good call I think… you are probably right.

Scott is the guy IMO. Like his interview in this video shows… really smart player. Tough.

Really good podcast thanks

If we don’t get downs, I bet we get Scott or Stukes
I really, really want Downs or Scott but I do like Stukes. I just see him as a few notches below those other two.

I want Scott’s smarts and physicality on this defense.

I guess I should go ahead and start preparing myself to watch him get drafted somewhere that I hate… that’s how it usually works.

The only two edge players that I might feel good about in the back half of round 1 are Mesidor and Howell. In the second I might take R Mason Thomas but I’m not loving a lot of those pass rushers.

And I’m not even sure that Dallas is interested at all about Howell or Mason Thomas. I like those two guys but the Cowboys might not.

Interesting thoughts on Hood in this video

We have heard a lot of the local guys throwing around Hoods name as a fit for Dallas. After listening to this video , I’m a bit surprised. They talked about Hood being exceptionally good as a press corner and not so good in zone. That wasn’t my understanding as to what CP was looking for in a CB
