Barry Alvarez anyone?

No. And I say that as a UW alum. Switzer aside, Jerry would not entrust a Super Bowl-caliber team to a complete neophyte like Alvarez. And truth be told, I think Alvarez has his eye on the Notre Dame job if Weiss splits any time soon. Give me Fisher or a hot young coordinator.

No thank you to Alvarez.

Fair enough... but you do have to admit one thing... he is a football coach...

You need someone who has Super Bowl rings. Just like after Jimmy Johnson, anyone who follows Parcells must have some type of pedigree that the players respect.

I doubt Barry gives up his job as athletic director at Wisconsin to take any coaching job.......college or pro.

How could you dispell him as a former alumni?

He only changed the entire face of Badger football bringing success to Wisconsin that made them one college footballs most successful programs.

Badger games have been sold out for years thanks to him.

I never said he couldn't do it. I said Jerry in all likelihood would want a bigger name and Barry would want a job at his old school, Notre Dame. He's a college guy. Nothing wrong with that.

I really expect Cowher to take a year off then take this job.

He runs the same defense which is huge considering our draft pick commitment to it and has a proven track record.

I also think he'll love the Jerry Jones free agency checkbook as well of course as what he pays his coaches.

Fisher would be the only other thought for me but he may last in Tenn with Young helping them win games already.

Also, the Dolphins sniffed around Alvarez a couple of years ago and he said no. Maybe not enough $$.

I can see Mike Holmgren here at some point , I think he and Jerry are friends off the field.

Plus you have the whole Ron Wolf angle, another friend of Mike, clearly warmed up to Valley Ranch over these last 4 years with Parcells here. That's a situation where one could seriously be whispering in one's ear. Also can't imagine how tickled Holmgram might be to have a little Favre to work with again.

Let's see... He goes 6-6 with a team that was supposed to challenge for the national title. Every year, Iowa is supposed to be loaded for bear. And every year, they are a disappointment. The one word I would use to describe Ferentz--underachiever

I think Glen Mason does more in Minnesota with less than Ferentz, not that Mason needs to be hired to run the fricking Dallas Cowboys. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Parcells has mentioned his respect for Mason several times since he has been here. He's also talked about how well the UMinny players are coached. It's a viable name no one has mentioned before...

There's no way JJ is going to hire a college coach, not a single one, unless they have pro experience.

It's not that they can't get the job done, but he wants to win now, with the current team, not go through a phase of adapting to the pro game.

I'd be shocked totally if he were to even consider a college coach to replace BP....my first choice, since we have a young QB and RB tantem, would be Norv Turner.
