Bob Lilly. The more I watch the more I like. Lilly was drafted as a DE and #13 in his draft class. Became Mr. Cowboy as the greatest DT ever until we got some Manster. I am on the Bosa train. If not an elite LDE, slide Bosa into the 3DT and think we have a winner.

I didn't see enough Lilly to compare but I know Bosa has a lot of talent. He just not liked much around here. I still hold out hope he's the guy at #4 and turns out to be a perennial All-Pro for this team instead of another.

Didn't we just give out big money to 3T?

I didn't watch Lilly play. If you don't b think Bosa is Demarcus Ware and JJ Watt then you apparently hate him. I think Bosa is a better player than Greg Ellis. I would prefer better at 4. Randy Moss and Demarcus Ware don't seem to be in this draft. I can live with Bosa, but I hope we get creative and have a trade down partner.

He might be similar to Mr Cowboy in that he gives 100% effort 100% of the time.

Don't see the Greg Ellis comparisons at all (and Greg Ellis gets a bum rap by Cowboys fans, for the record). He looks like a college version of Justin Smith to me in terms of his style of play.

I aksed for an intelligent basis for the comparison beyond that Broaddus said it. I've yet to see it. I even looked up old Ellis game film to see if the comparison was apt. It's ****.

The are 6-6 and play DE and that is about where the comparison ends. The contrast is stark particularly where it counts.

He played SDE nor RDE. He is the consensus #1 DE for the past two years while Ellis was the 3rd rated at his own draft. Ellis lacks the dominant chracteristics of Bosa in his handwork, bevy or moves, and reaction from opposing DCs.

Ellis tried to use his speed rush over and over again in college. He was a one trick pony.

It's a gratuitous comparison that serves to trigger a back brain response from Cowboys fans because of the Moss circumstance and Ellis's regression in his career after injury. It doesn't give you an idea how either of them actually played.

I so agree on the bum rap for Ellis he played on some awful teams and still played his heart out. If Bosa is Ellis then it is a good pick.

He also had the achilles. And he probably was playing in the wrong scheme for the first big chunk of his career. Even then, he was better than most fans want to remember because they, understandably, are sore about what could have been with Randy Moss.

Funny how the draft process takes so long that we talk ourselves in and out of players several times over the whole process. As far as Bosa is concerned, Ive gone back and forth multiple times. From high on, to underwhelmed to back to thinking he will be a great fit at SDE. Allowing both Lawrence and "Weedhead" to platoon at WDE.
Bosa feels like the lovable meathead type - ala Gronkowski. Only, with his high wonderlic result I think its a false misnomer.
I'm back at the point where I would be more than OK with him being our first pick.

Yes everyone conveniently forgets about how he was not playing his proper position because the team needed him to step up and help. Yikes that really brings back some bad team memories.
