That is really the rocking chair in the room full of cats. In the last 30 years before Watt how often was a white in the top five pass rushers ? It's rare which is why most do not expect Watt type productivity from Bosa
Watt is a once a generation type of players. What's the likelihood another one would come along so quickly. That being said I don't see a great pass rusher in this group regardless of color. I would like to trade back but if not and DE is the way we go I go with Bosa.

Gambler's fallacy. Also, Matthews and Allen come to mind.

Jared Allen led the league in sacks in 2007 and 2011. Kevin Greene led the league in 1994 and 1996. Bryce Paup led the league in 1995. Mark Gastineau led the league in 1983 and 1984.

As for other top-five finishes, there have been many. Connor Barwin finished fourth in 2014, Clay Matthews finished fifth in 2012 and fourth in 2010, Jason Babin finished third in 2011, Jared Allen finished second in 2009 and fifth in 2008 ... I could keep going if necessary.

I like Lawson slightly better, I have never seen all the double and triple teams that Bosa supposedly gets. That being said Bosa is so good with his hands, wow very good. I think Lawson and Bosa are pretty darn ready to play and I don't think either if them our overly explosive so I don't think they have an extremely high ceiling, but I think they both have a high floor. Lawson is like a junk yard dog though and I love that in my DE.

I'll be ok with either, but I'd rather get a high 3 and 4 with Lawson or a 2nd round pick and Lawson than just Bosa.
