Dillon cut loose, may Jet off to NY

Odds and ends
Linebacker Tully Banta-Cain [stats] visited with the Rams yesterday and may be a goner.

“They need a pass-rusher, that’s no secret,” said agent James Sims. “And (coach Jim) Haslett’s a hell of a defensive mind. He’d really be able to utilize Tully’s versatility to play in 4-3 and the 3-4. Plus, it’s a team that will contend.”

Banta-Cain has also heard from the Steelers, Ravens, 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, Dolphins, Browns, Jets and Giants.

“It’s totally new to him,” Sims said. “I don’t think he’s engaging in it in the sense of taking too many trips. He wants to hone in on the best opportunity and match that with the financial package.”

I liked Banta-Cain coming out of college. I think he would be a good addition but I don't want to break the bank on him.

I remember about 4-5 years ago people here really wanted this guy in the 6th or 7th round.

For New England, this 7th rounder has paid off for them well. He may not have started (well, over Richard Seymore, I think not), but he has been a decent rotational player and good on special teams.

For a decent price, I would go for it.

I think Tully Banta-Cain is a sleeper that would be great depth. He's an awesome pass-rusher stays in the back-field with the Quaterback....

I would envision him as more of a replacement for Singleton than I would Burnett.

The year Tully was drafted, we were rumored to be very interested too. I'd read several reports that projected us taking him in the later rounds.

Well a good stiff breeze could register a sack against Bledsoe, so that's not a big plus right there. :D

They finished 8-8, one game behind the Cowboys. They have a pro bowl qb, rb, and wr, and finished the year with 3 straight wins. I would think they have a chance to contend.
