not offering any excuses for our poor all team effort last nite. But while I've constantly heard Payton cited as knowledgeable about our offense, we need remember that Gibbs is just as knowledgeable about our defense. These 2 would know everythng needed about the Cowboys and also Parcells/Zimmer mindsets. You can't discount at all their value in this situation. Remember about 4 years ago when Tampa beat Raiders in the SB; you better believe it was Gruden's knowledge of their scheme and the strengths/weaknesses of each player which was the deciding factor.

I was worried about this game, but them I'm worried about every Cowboy game, because living outside Tampa had opportunity to watch Saints demolish the Bucs. I was extremely impressed by the Saints in that game; they were extremely aggressive on offense and Colston was just unbelievable. I remember thinking where was that offensive game plan when he was in many respects our Offensive Coordinator but under Parcells conservative game plane.

Last night's game made all of us sick. I know Seattle had lost and figured our team knowing that we had legit chance get the #2 seed along with maintaining 2 game lead over the Giants were really get us going. And first few minutes (Ware's sick & JJones TD run) really got me so excited.

I came down to earth real quick on Romo's first INT by former Cowboy Omar Stoutimere. I still think Romo will be an extremely good QB for us but he must learn in his first year as a starter not to even think of following Favre's mode of play by managing the game better, etc. He's played at an incredible high level for several weeks but now has a downer which he should bounce back from (if our OL shows up).

It's the defense that really worries me. Insufficient QB pressure & poor safety play. Hope Parris can help out a lot next Saturday against the Falcons cause frankly we now in situation where we can't afford to lose any more games--unless Giants/Eagles also do so.

I keep telling myself my hope for the team this year was at least an 11-5 record, an NFC East title and 1 playoff win. We can still reach that goal but we must make some changes in the offseason thru FA & the draft. At this point our needs are many.

As for bringing TO back, he hasn't been the superstar I expected and frankly admit I'm tired of his opening his mouth all the time & the media coverage. While I really don't think it's affecting the team (believe they all have the mentality that it's just TO being TO) am concerned how much further he will go in his 2nd season.

Don't know if I blame Zimmer cause he's doing what Parcells wants or he wouldn't be around. This is last year of his contract so we will see what happens. I'd love to see us bring in a real 3-4 coach (supply name) who can turn our defense into the agressive unit I expected. A real offensive coordinator would also help but Parcells obviously kept Payton under this thumb & maybe Zimmer as well. I remember on at least 1 occasion when Parcells said he had both of them cut back their game plans. My question is whether the game plans too difficult for the players to grasp or were they both more aggressive then the Parcells felt comfortable with.

As for this game, I just want this mightmare to go away but none of us will forget it for a long time. Saints cleaned our clock and outplayed us and outcoached us.

Agreed.

It reminded me of Jon Gruden's Buccaneers destroying his former Raiders team in the Super Bowl.

I think our team was mentally beaten before the game even started.

There was thread started a few days back that dealt with 'concern about Peyton's intimate knowledge' of the Cowboys and Romo. I was quite surprised very few people shared any of that concern. Some excuses were 'everyone in the NFL knows about everyone else,' or 'BP knows all about Peyton too.'

It's much deeper than that, the little tendencies that not everyone knows about. Peyton and Gibbs preyed on those at their whim. It's those little things that can make a big seperation.

Seemed to me their answer to Romo was to make a concerted effort to keep him inside the tackles.

Another concern I never seen mentioned was the historical value of coming off a tough road win vs. a divisional opponent. Beware of those situations.

As embarrassing as the Cowboy's performance was last night, it was even more embarrassing reading some of the comments(excuses). 'Good for you NO, you beat us with 'trick' plays,' or 'We made that over rated Reggie Bush look like an MVP.' First, a screen to the RB isn't that tricky, and second, that RB happened to be that 'over rated' Reggie Bush that made our defense look like fools.

Plain old simple arse whoopin, Saints came to play, and Dallas didn't.
