Cowboys Stadium will become America's biggest bowling Alley next year.

The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America announced it will hold the U.S. Women's Open for bowling at Cowboys Stadium on June 30, 2011. The event will be held in conjunction with the 2011 International Bowl Expo.

"This is a landmark announcement for bowling and for women's athletics – there is no more prestigious name in sports than the U.S. Open and no bigger venue than Cowboys Stadium. This event exemplifies both the surging popularity of bowling among women and the heightened consumer demand to watch and attend bowling events," said BPAA Executive Director Steve Johnson.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Bowling Congress, BPAA and the sport's hall of fame and museum moved to Arlington.

Bowling's U.S. Women's Open will showcase the tournament lanes in the center of the Cowboys Stadium playing field, on each side of the 50-yard line. Additionally, the Open will be broadcast live on the stadium's famed 60-yard high definition video board, ensuring that all patrons in attendance have the best seat in the house.

I really think that Cowboys Stadium should host a BCS Bowl Game. The Cotton Bowl used to be a top tier bowl game, and I think Jerry and Stephen should bring that prestige back to Texas.

They anticipate 8,000 to show up for the International Bowling Congress, or whatever they call the thing, so after they all pay to park, buy a seat, and shell out for concessions Jerry will be able to pay for the light bill that day and then some.

It's the first time the event is being held in a traditional sporting venue like this, so there's one "strike" against it right there.

What a joke. Whats next, lumberjack contests?

Jerry's a marketing genius. He's promoting the stadium as a venue for all events, big and small. They also have wedding receptions and parties there. Smart moves all, big and small.

After watching Jimmy Johnson acting like a carnival barker selling pills that he claims make his ***** bigger, watching Jerry do his stadium promotions doesn't bother me so much.

I hate soccer, but even I don't mind that Jerry has to rent the stadium to other sports in order to pay the bills.

Concerts, sports events, and conventions all benefit our Cowboys in the long run. If they want to pay the fees to rent the place, take the money and smile Jerry.

No cheerleaders, Jerry. They'd only distract the bowlers.

I have to agree with this. I'm not a jeffro fan but the guy has to pay the bills and make a buck. He's gotta be working his rear-end off with all the venues he's trying to support.
