Allen supposedly works his arse off and yet he can't get on the field?

It sounds like we've been sold some swamp land in Florida.

maybe he lifted the way Parcells wanted him to lift this year, which brought on the praise...maybe he just didn't want to run all off season...maybe he chose to not finish the conditioning drill, maybe he couldn't....maybe like many great players before him, especially linemen, he doesn't want to do all the work the other guys are doing.

Somehow I'd guess he'll be in the starting lineup on opening day, and between him, Adams, and Johnson, it probably won't hurt anything a bit.

Look at his photos in the other thread. He looks to be in great shape for Larry Allen. Could be that the heat just got to him that day or maybe he was sick. Maybe he lifted too much. Not enough info right now but the article on dc.com says that Bill expects him back Sunday or Monday. Tehy were erring on the side of caution by holding him out.

Could be that being a big guy, he got overheated and they didn't want to push him and risk something happening.

I think we all know that he'll start. The problem is, with all the changes made with the team and all of the new faces. You would like for your key veterans to report for duty ready to go. Larry Allen is a perrenial pro bowler and you'd like for him to set a good example for the younger players. If he was ill or something else was wrong with him physically, then he should not have participated in the drill.
