Scores based on on the field benefit not from a business perspective

Glover released (---)
Kozier signed (+)
Fujita unsigned (-)
Ayodele signed (+)
Campbell unsigned (-)

Impending moves (based on latest media chatter:

Key released (---)
TO unsigned (+/-)
Vin/Van unsigned (---)

Based on my "average fan" perspective our team is not as good as last year's based on the information we have to date. Of course this does not account for injured players returning, the draft, coaching changes, and last year's rookies improving. However, thus far, FA does not appear to be a vehicle we have utilized to significantly improve on last year's team.

Big negative since it's three minuses.

Thank you.

Using the triple negative explanation; Signing TO is a wash, yet releasing Key is a very bad thing. Are there some other WR moves that I dont know about that would help the Cowboys. I guess the draft would be helpful. However that might only add 1 "+".

My views:

Glover released (--) - I dropped it down a bit since he doesn't fit the scheme as well, but he's a player who's talent will be missed especially if Ferguson disappoints.

Kozier signed (+) - Small plus since we really don't know much about him but he's being paid starter money. Probable starter at LG/RT.

Fujita unsigned (-) - I don't think he's a huge loss except for a matter of depth personally.

Ayodele signed (++) - I think Akin can have a good year and be a cog of our defense. I wouldn't be surprised to see him throw up eight sacks this year.

Campbell unsigned (Wash) - His best days are behind him. We can get someone younger and cheaper to fill the same role.

Impending moves (based on latest media chatter):

Key released (--) - I don't want Key to go really, especially if TO doesn't sign. Like it or not, he's still a solid player who isn't afraid to go over the middle.

TO unsigned (+++/---) - TO will either pay off big or be a complete and utter debacle. Simple as that.

Releasing Allen (Wash) - Allen's best days are behind him. I see no reason why he'll suddenly improve. He should not have made the Pro Bowl last year but a name goes a long way. Do we have anyone better at this position? Perhaps not, but Allen gets paid way too much for the effort he puts in.

Vin/Van unsigned (---) - I'll go three negatives on this simply because our kickers cost us games last year that we should have won. We would have made the playoffs and won the division with better kicking. Other teams could probably make similar claims, but ours was the most evident.

So, my overall view of FA thus far:

(--) - I say this because we've yet to find a competent FS nor address the kicking problem. I don't think we've improved much to this point and it could be argued that we've digressed.

That said, FA is not a race and there is still time and players to turn this grade around.

this is kinda like saying the game is over when to other teams scores a td in the first quater.4 days guys, give it some times

Hence the disclaimer "based on the information we have to date", just a little commentary. It's like asking Aikman and Buck to remain silent without commentary during a game until the final whistle.

The thing I do like by our couple signings so far (Gurode, Kosier & Ayodele) is that they are all young with years ahead of them. They can help estalish a good nucleus for years to come. Unlike an older vet who might be here for 2 years and gone, thus creating an endless cycle.

people whine about signing old guys when we are rumored to be looking at McGinest, Coleman, Mawae, and Fabini.

Now we get some young guys and people whine as well.
