Report: Cowboys sign free agent defensive back to futures deal

A new face is on his way to the Dallas Cowboys.

The team is allowed to begin signing free agents as of January 1 and immediately went to the task of inking several to futures deals to open the new year. Not content to simply sit on that haul, they've gone out and grabbed another potential talent for the coming offseason program.

According to ESPN Insider Todd Archer, the Cowboys are inking defensive back Marqueston Huff to the team.

Maybe @haleyrules will come back for this guy!

Is it awesome because they picked some dude off the street or is this guy any good? If he is actually good than I am right there with ya, Awesome.

Quest is a former 4th round pick out of Wyoming in '14 where he had six career picks. Quest played two seasons in Tennessee, played in 30 games. He started once, and was able to deflect four passes and haul in one pick while making one sack.

The 'Boys almost exclusively use safeties, LB's and RB's on their special teams coverage units, so as Frazier and Heath look to graduate to larger roles within the D in '18, there may be room for a specialist on the Dallas roster. Quest would fit that position given the downtime to be a starter. So yes, that would be Awesome.

Quest spent 11 games active on Baltimore’s roster in 2016, but failed to record any significant stats on defsense. He played 223 teams snaps in those 11 games, good for 48.4% of the Ravens total special teams snaps for the year. In other words, he played almost every special teams down while he was on the roster.

In 2015, he played 362 special teams snaps (80.8 percent) for the Titans, after lining up for 293 (62.6) as a rookie.

Impressed with the knowledge!!!!

Long time no see!! I tried to PM you lol. Also, I suppose that's good? Hopefully, he'll work out.

Championship?!?.....I can't even say it without laughing and crying at our FA bargain bin hunting.
Maybe we will sign ten more guys who won't last two games and register zero stats.
