to generate a pass rush earlier this week . . . . (finally!)

Any ideas?

Stunts? CB blitzes? Kryptonite on opposing OL?

As long as they don't "SHOW" the blitz so early, I think they'll be fine. The problem is, the offense knows exactly when they are going to blitz and when they aren't. I have NO IDEA why they show the blitz so freakin' early. Most teams send the blitz after the snap, so the offense has to adjust on the fly. With our defense, the o-line can talk before the snap, which is the main reason we get stood up like a wall, almost every single time we send one.

It is so painful to watch.

here's an idea:
On pass downs, put Ware, Spears, Ratliff, and Canty on the DL in that order and let them rip.

End of pass rush problem. Go figure.

I love it when we blitz 8 and they shut us down with 5 olinemen :bang2:

I think it's part showing the blitz early and part not having the proper spacing for the blitz to be effective. We literally run our blitz into the teeth of the line and the best defense against our blitz is for the lineman to just stand there and hold their arms out. They'll get a piece of them and slow it down enough for a pass to come out.

What you see Philly do is scheme the blitz so that spaces open for blitzers to come through. It's coaching. 100% coaching.

I suggested in the PC thread it's probably something simple - not scheme oriented. Like playcalling responsibilities shifting, or just playing Hatcher more.

Oh yes, there will be rush!

I'm thinking he will put another player in. That kind of statement from BP usually has something to do with changing personell.

Hopefully he will switch to the 4-3 for the playoffs. 3-4 isn't working, so why not really shake thing up. At least that way, Ware will be able to Blitz on a full-time basis.

yeah, it's pretty difficult to miss 8 fellas hovering over you for the better part of 4 seconds - my blind grandmother could see 'em comin'....

I think we really might see more of that against detroit. He talked about their pass-happy, and needing more D-linemen maybe.

It could be that, or we treat the Nickel as our base, and keep Glenn out there more. Maybe we've been saving him.

No more of Roy running to the middle of the line a good 3 seconds early and getting blocked by his own man? :)

How about a corner blitz from time to time?

Parcells has been calling out both Spears and Canty for more production for weeks - with zero results.

Canty can at least hold up against the run.

Spears is playing like a bum in all aspects.

Time to talk about it is over.

Sit him down and play Kenyon Coleman and Hatcher more.

Jr. Glympth ?

I kept saying this to my brother during the Philly game. We should have Demarcus Ware coming after the QB on every single play on defense. Using him in coverage is a complete waste of his talent. I would put him all over the line and just rush him.

The last time I remember us using a corner blitz Hank Baskett scored a LONG TD.

Hold the parents of the opposing OL hostage until after the game is over.
