Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott wants to continue going to school with an eye on earning a Ph.D. in psychology, and he believes his continued education can help him on the football field.

On Tuesday, TMZ Sports passed along comments Prescott recently made to the Talk of Fame Network about his plans for the future.

"Just getting my degrees has helped me immensely, just within the game of football and with people, just making me more educated in general," he said. "It's something I continue to do. I'm actually continuing at some point either when I'm done [playing] or one offseason, I want to start working on my doctorate. So, I mean, it's very important to me."

The 23-year-old Louisiana native previously earned bachelor's and master's degrees during his time at Mississippi State University, per TMZ Sports. While he has a lucrative NFL career ahead, he's showing no signs of slowing down in the classroom.

Prescott is coming off a monster rookie season with the Cowboys. He ranked third in the NFL with a 104.9 passer rating after completing 67.8 percent of his throws for 3,667 yards, 23 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He added 282 rushing yards and six scores on the ground.

He was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and earned his first Pro Bowl selection for his efforts, which only came because projected starter Tony Romo suffered an injury during the preseason.

Now, with Romo retired and a mediocre group of backups on the roster, Dallas is banking on another big year from the fourth-round pick.

Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson is confident Prescott will be able to avoid the dreadful sophomore slump because he's shown "no complacency at all," per Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News.

"He's improved strength-wise, flexibility-wise, speed-wise, quickness-wise, so he's not resting on anything that went on last year," Wilson said. "He had a phenomenal rookie year. He's been out here working the whole offseason and taking over a little bit more of a leadership role this year that's kind of innate with the position, but it is his personality as well, and the guys are really responding to that."

While the quarterback's ambitions go far beyond the football field, including potentially earning the title Dr. Dak Prescott, his focus for now is the 2017 season. The Cowboys are scheduled to kick off the preseason with the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.
