It's been over two years since Alex Tanney and Johnny McEntee gained national attention for their football trick-shot videos. Today, Tanney is in the news again as the Dallas Cowboys signed the former Kansas City Chief and internet star to their 90-man roster.

Tanney, a 6'4", 220-pound quarterback, went to Monmouth College (Monmouth, Ill.), a little-known Division III school, where he broke nearly every record imaginable. Tanney set the NCAA record for touchdown passes in all divisions with 157. He also owns the Division III record for passing yards with 14,249.

Tanney was undrafted out of Monmouth but was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs and appeared in one preseason game in 2012 before injuring his hand and was placed on the injured reserve for the season. The Chiefs cut ties with Tanney in May.

By signing Tanney, the Cowboys add a strong throwing, accurate quarterback who will have to compete with Kyle Orton and Nick Stephens to back up Tony Romo.
