Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware's status is uncertain for the remainder of the team's Sunday Night Football contest against the Washington Commanders after suffering a right quad injury.
DeMarcus Ware has a right quad injury. Taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

He never returned to the game per the Cowboys Twitter feed:
DeMarcus Ware and DeMarco Murray are both out for the rest of the game.

After the game head coach Jason Garrett spoke about Ware's injury via the NFL Around the League Twitter feed:
Jason Garrett says DeMarco Murray has an MCL sprain and DeMarcus Ware has a quad strain.

Ware went down on a 3rd-and-7 play late in the second quarter. He was attempting to rush past Commanders offensive tackle Trent Williams on the outside, but pulled up lame before creating any headway and began favoring his left side to take pressure off his quad.
The play's result was an incomplete pass, and Ware went to the sidelines immediately after. He was tended to by trainers on the field for a short while, but then went into the locker room to undergo more stringent testing.
With the injury happening so close to halftime, it's unclear whether the Cowboys training staff feared something more serious or were trying to get a head start on treatment. Ware did not return to the field for the Commanders' subsequent drive after a Dwayne Harris punt return for a touchdown.
Kyle Wilber replaced him as the right side defensive end. Wilber, a second-year pro out of Wake Forest, has only nine tackles and one sack for his career. Most of his work has been on special teams and as a scout-team defender.
That would obviously be a huge step down from Ware, who holds the franchise's all-time record for sacks. The versatile 31-year-old has played most of his career as an outside linebacker, but has made the successful transition to down lineman under new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.
Ware had 16 tackles and four sacks heading into Week 6 and was on his way to another stellar outing before leaving with the quad injury. He had three tackles, a quarterback hit on Griffin and seemed to be winning his battle with Williams, the Commanders' Pro Bowl left tackle.
Should Ware be out long term, it will be another blow for a pass defense that currently ranks second-worst in the NFL.
