The Dallas Cowboys offense remains shaky in the absence of Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo, who continues to recover from a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2.
The ripple has reflected across the rest of the offense, though a few key playmakers—and a surprise breakout—had big performances in Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Wide receiver Dez Bryant finally rewarded owners after missing five games with a foot fracture and scoring just five fantasy points combined in the other two games he started.
Bryant hauled in five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown, with a long of 51, showing the deep threat he represents. And he played through exhaustion, hauling in three catches for 37 yards and a score in the fourth quarter alone—enhancing his viability as a must-start.
Despite the absence of Romo, Bryant remains in the WR2 mix, but that stock will rise when the starter returns.
Fellow receiver Cole Beasley came out of nowhere and tied for the seventh-highest fantasy score among wide receivers in Week 9 with 23 points.
He was owned in just 3 percent of leagues, for warranted reason, entering Week 9 with a combined 15 points. He’s the team’s fourth receiver on the depth chart but may see increased targets in light of Sunday’s performance.
Owners with bench space may want to consider adding Beasley in case the breakout continues, but they should also wait to see continued success before considering him a viable flex option.
Reliable fantasy tight end Jason Witten continues to provide mixed results without Romo and turned in a 43-yard performance with no scores Sunday. He’s no longer a must-start tight end but could still be a TE1 in weak leagues.
Witten should benefit even more than Bryant once Romo returns, but he will have to hope the veteran is able to shake off any rust quickly as Dallas tries to stay in the playoff race.
