********'s Diana Moskovitz published an extensive investigative report (Warning: Link contains graphic, disturbing images and profanity) regarding Greg Hardy's alleged assault of his ex-girlfriend, and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones commented on the matter Friday evening.
Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson relayed Jones' statement, which indicated the Cowboys had not seen the photos prior to agreeing to terms with the defensive end on a one-year, $11.3 million deal in March:
While the NFL had to sue the state of North Carolina to obtain a look at the photos, per the Charlotte Observer's Joe Person, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport pointed to a ruling that prohibited Dallas from gaining similar access:
However, Rapoport indicated the Cowboys were aware of the gravity of the allegations against Hardy to some degree since "they did read very vivid descriptions" at the time of his 10-game suspension.
After an appeal, Hardy's suspension was ultimately reduced to four games, which he served following the formal dismissal of the domestic-violence charges.
And based on Jones' statement, a team-imposed ban or outright release of the embattled defensive end appears unlikely.
