The Cowboys have covered the posted spread in each of their five SU wins on the season. The Eagles stunned Minnesota last week with a 21-10 win as three-point home underdogs, but Philadelphia has lost two straight on the road, both as the betting favorite.
Point spread: The Cowboys opened as five-point favorites; the total was 43.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).
NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 30.3-16.9 Cowboys (NFL picks on every game)
Why the Eagles can cover the spread
Philadelphia produced a defensive gem last week against the Vikings. The Eagles sacked Sam Bradford four times and forced the former Philly pivot's first three turnovers of the campaign.
Indeed, the Eagles defense has been among the best in the NFL. Philadelphia has surrendered just 14.7 points per game this season and a mere 9.25 points per game over its four wins.
And the Eagles have enjoyed considerable success on the road against NFC East rivals. Philadelphia has won seven of its past 10 SU, including three outright wins as road underdogs.
Why the Cowboys can cover the spread
Youth has been the key to the Cowboys' early success this season. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has thrown seven touchdown passes over the past four games and added three scoring runs. Rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott has run for at least 134 yards in his past four games.
The Cowboys have also been a dominant defensive force during their current tear. Dallas has posted wins by double-digit margins in three of five games this season and held opponents to 17 or fewer points in its past four outings.
Smart pick
Dallas is 5-3 SU in its past eight games against Philadelphia, but each of those losses came on home turf, as the Eagles have averaged well over 28 points per game in their past seven visits to Arlington. Philadelphia has also enjoyed success while pegged as an underdog of four or more points, winning two straight outright and covering in four of six games.
Look for Dallas to extend its SU win streak Sunday night, but also for Philadelphia to pick up the ATS win against the widest spread it has faced so far this season at online sports betting sites.
Betting trends
The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five games on the road against the Cowboys.
The visiting team is 6-0 SU in its last six games in this matchup.
The total has gone over in 15 of the Cowboys' last 21 games in Week 8.
