Dallas is a bad bet at the moment, with just one cover through its first six games of this season; Seattle isn't much better, with just two covers through its first seven games. Two teams that were supposed to contend in the NFC this season, but own losing records at the moment, meet as the Cowboys host the Seahawks Sunday afternoon.

Point spread: The Seahawks opened as six-point favorites; the total was 40.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report)

NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 22.6-18.2 Seahawks

Why the Seahawks can cover the spread

Seattle is only 3-4 straight up and 2-4-1 against the spread this season but coming off its best outing in a month, a 20-3 victory at San Francisco last Thursday. The Seahawks led 17-0 before the Niners hit the board, outgained San Francisco 388-142, won the ground battle by a 176-61 margin, held the ball for over 38 minutes and covered as six-point road favorites.....snip....

Why the Cowboys can cover the spread

The Cowboys have lost four games in a row, but they're also probably coming off their best performance in a month, and their best performance since quarterback Tony Romo went down with that shoulder injury, a 27-20 loss at the Giants Sunday night. Dallas tied the game at 20-20 on a Matt Cassel-to-Devin Street touchdown hookup with seven minutes to go, but promptly gave up a 100-yard kickoff return for a score and couldn't recover.

This game is more like a 3 pt Seattle fav IMO. It's a winnable game. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

If Dez isn't playing, I don't think we win. I just don't see anyone on this offense who strikes fear into Seattle's defense. And this four-game losing streak has really dampened my optimism.

Seattle - 30
Dallas - 24

Seattle's defense makes the Giant's defense look like wet tissue paper and the Seahawk running game is hard-nosed up the gut tough. This is a much tougher match-up than last week.

Eh. Their defense is definitely better, but their offense is a lot worse too. Dallas will get sacks, and Russell has fumbled a few times in the short bits I've watched of Seattle. Focus on the run and containing Wilson and Seattle could have a very difficult time scoring. Unfortunately, Dallas scoring won't be easy either.

I agree with much of that, but have you seen Seattle's offense? Their offensive line is atrocious, so Wilson is getting beaten to a pulp, and their run game gets stuck in the mud.

I think this is a 20-17 kind of game.

If the bus driver hangs 30 points on us im selling all my worldly possessions moving to the middle east and joining ISIS.:muttley:Turnovers and returns by Locket do not count. Now I need to go find some wood and knock on it.

The same was said of the Saints and the Giants. :(

Why don't turnovers and returns count? They counted last week.

yeah. Seattles losing record, is different then the Cowboys losing record...

Seattle has been to 2 straight SBs......The organization all the way down to the waterboy are probably tired....all that extra pressure, games, activity....

They are a good football team , who have lost a few in the 4th qrt.

I am actually expecting them to shut us out.

Something tells me that "atrocious" offense is going to run all over our great defense...

The Giants scored 13 offensive points. The Saints scored 20 in regulation.

But didn't some of our fans say that we should win against the Giants because their offensive line was crappy? And didn't some of our fans say that we should beat the Saints because their offensive line was crappy?
I remember the same thing being said, if my recollection serves me right.

Laying 6 at home surprises me, too. But until we get off the schnyde, this is what we get..

I can't complain and we're more likely to lose more to the spread than they are. The over/under is higher than I thought. I'm not complaining about the handicap.

Well technically the D did win last week with only giving up 13, and then JG lost it for us against NO when he didn't call a TO in OT.
