Tony Romo made history on Sunday, overtaking Troy Aikman in the Dallas Cowboys' record books to become the team's all-time leading passer.

The Cowboys congratulated Romo on Twitter:

The three-time Pro Bowler broke the record in style, by torching the Indianapolis Colts' secondary. At one point, Romo had a string of 15 completed passes in a row. That streak included four touchdown passes, per ESPN Stats & Info:

Romo finished with a stat line of 18 for 20 passing, totaling 218 yards and the four touchdowns.

Throughout his career, Romo's been a bit of a divisive figure among Cowboys and NFL fans in general for his perceived struggles in the late stages of the regular season.

Although he'll likely never be as revered as Aikman, it speaks volumes about Romo's talent and overall legacy that he's now the Cowboys' leader in passing yards.

ESPN's Skip Bayless argued that Romo is currently at the peak of his powers:

The 34-year-old has been one of the biggest reasons the Cowboys are on the verge of the playoffs.

Dallas is also one win away from clinching the NFC East, which would be the first time since 2009 that the franchise won its division.
