Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith left the stadium with an illness prior to the team's game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. It's unclear when he will return.
Continue for updates.
Smith Out vs. Bears
Sunday, Sept. 25
Mike Leslie of WFAA relayed the update.
In his sixth NFL season, Smith has been largely healthy throughout his career. He's missed only one regular-season game, emerging as one of the best young tackles in football.
The 2015 season has saw him rank first in Pro Football Focus' overall grades despite a propensity for drawing penalties. The 25-year-old is part of perhaps the NFL's best offensive line, as center Travis Frederick and guard Zack Martin have has joined him at the Pro Bowl in each of the last two years.
The Cowboys will miss Smith if he misses extended time. He's made the Pro Bowl in each of the last three years and is responsible for keeping Tony Romo, who's coming off shoulder and back injuries, and rookie signal-caller Dak Prescott upright.
With the team hoping to get back into the division championship race, losing another top star might be the final nail in the coffin.
