The NFL draft is a lot like poker as teams have no idea what the other is doing; however, each team's drafting tendencies help predict what they may do in the future.

The Dallas Cowboys are no different as they have a few draft tendencies that will help us predict what they may do during the 2015 NFL draft. Now, just because the Cowboys have shown a propensity to do any number of things, it doesn't mean they will do that this time. Nevertheless, it helps narrow down the nearly infinite directions that they could go down.

Select a Defensive Back at Some Point in between Rounds 4 through 7

In the last 13 drafts, the Cowboys have selected at least one defensive back during Rounds 4-7. The Cowboys have shown a propensity to select defensive backs that they think can make an immediate impact on special teams and have an opportunity to develop into a starting role on defense.

This draft strategy worked out well when Dallas selected Orlando Scandrick in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. Scandrick has developed into the best defensive back on the Cowboys roster and one of the best in the league.

Nevertheless, this draft strategy has also come back to bite them as it did last year when Terrance Mitchell didn't even make the roster.

If the Cowboys continue the trend this year; there are a few players they could be interested in. Minnesota safety Cedric Thompson is an athletic freak with raw tools that are worth developing. Ole Miss' Senquez Golson is one of the most talented cornerbacks in the country, but his size is extremely troubling. Virginia Tech's Kyshoen Jarrett is a special teams phenom who could develop into a very good box safety as well.

The Cowboys Will Trade Out of Their First-Round Pick

The Cowboys have traded out of their first-round pick in 20 of their last 26 drafts since owner Jerry Jones purchased the team in 1989.

The draft tendency has netted great picks such as Travis Frederick but has also ended poorly such as selecting Morris Claiborne.

This year, it appears more likely that if the Cowboys traded out of their first-round pick, they would trade down. Dallas doesn't have enough ammo to really move up, and this draft looks like a great opportunity to trade back.

There isn't a ton of talent at the top this year, but there is a wealth of talent in the second and third rounds; therefore, any trade that could net the Cowboys more picks, there would be a great value.

The Cowboys First-Round Pick Will Be a Predraft Visitor

While a lot of teams use their predraft visits as a smokescreen, the Cowboys actually place a ton of value on who they bring in for their predraft visits.

Eight of the Cowboys last nine first-round picks were predraft visitors, the lone exception being Morris Claiborne.

While the Cowboys have yet to hold their national or local predraft visits yet, it is something that fans should keep a keen eye on.

At the moment, it is confirmed that the Cowboys are bringing in a host of top running backs, including Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, Ameer Abudllah and Jay Ajayi to go along with top defensive prospects such as Eric Kendricks and Kevin Johnson.

It would be a smart bet that one of those players will be the Cowboys' first-round pick if they don't trade out.
