Check this out!

http://aggbot.com/Dallas-Cowboys-News/article/21593033

I am finding myself reading this article and agreeing with nearly everything written and 95% of it comes back to Garrett. We just always seem to make dumb decisions and fall on our own sword. :(

I know we have a heap of HC bashing topics going on already but this article goes a bit deeper and examines a few more aspects of the team and areas we need to improve.

The 4th down probability stats for the year is very alarming and something i never really looked at!

JG is the head coach going forward. We need to get over this HC bashing. He's not the problem anyway. Jerry the alcoholic is.

I do think Garrett should review his game time decisions in much the same way Ron Rivera did. For those who don't know, Rivera reviewed the situational stats and realized he was being overly conservative to the detriment of his team. His approach changed so much that the local media started calling him "Riverboat Ron." Granted he may not have changed had his neck not already been in a noose, but the point is that he did and in the long run it has paid off. And I say that having watched most of their games.

Sometimes the alcoholic owner/GM isn't always the problem. He's the main problem but Garrett makes a lot of bad decisions during games. He'll just take whatevers thrown at him and doesn't argue bad calls from officials. The 25 second clock vs the Eagles. <just one example>
it just seems like being the HC is not his strong suit.

And I like Garrett.

I disagree with the criticism of this years draft.

Frederick will be a force on the line along with Smith for years to come. He had an oitstanding rookie season.

Escobar can benefit with a bigger role in the passing attack. He just needs to develop his blocking technique.

Williams made plenty of big plays and exceeded most of our expectations. He made Austin an afterthought. He still needs to develop his hands so we can use him on those quick slant routes.

Wilcox showed a lot of potential prior to his injury. He beat out Allen and made him expendable. He's quick and puts his body out there on tackles. He'll benefit from his play time this season and I can see some INT's from this guy next season; still think he got robbed of one at Philly.

Randle doesn't have the speed that goes with his size. I'm not sure how he will fit long term, or even next season for that matter. I think what our FO was hoping for on Randle they finally discovered in Dunbar.

Webb still needs to develop, as he looked lost all season. Not his fault. He shouldn't have been put in that position at this point.

Holloman has shown some promise. He's always moving at the snap of the ball and once he gets more settled he'll play more often.

JG is the head coach going forward - agree
We need to get over this HC bashing - disagree, he is inept at best and deserves the bashing until he is gone
He's not the problem anyway - totally disagree
Jerry the alcoholic is - agree

If we are to get over JG then we are to get over Jerry the social drinker too. He is the GM going forward.

It's a decent article, but still has a bit of Bleacher Report smell on it. I like how he beat the unoriginal "throw the ball to Dez" drum, then cites Andre Johnson and Garcon as guys who had more targets. Boy, funneling the ball to those two guys sure produced a lot of success for those two teams, didn't it?

What a great article. But now I'm depressed.

I agree and gee there are a few home truths in there for us all to ponder over for the next 6 Months and in my opinion it starts with this.....

Heading into December, the Cowboys hadn't run a single play on fourth down, according to Pro-Football Reference. Not one. There were all kinds of situations in which they could have and should have gone for it on fourth down this year. Actually, the New York Times Fourth Down Bot, which uses historic game data and algorithms from Advanced NFL Stats to calculate when teams should stay on the field on fourth down, showed the Cowboys missed 19 (NINETEEN) opportunities to go for it and increase their win probability!

Ultimately, all of the Cowboys' problems are due to the lack of a scientific foundation. They don't evolve or adapt, instead overreacting to individual results and making decisions based on "feel." Garrett emphasizes the importance of "the process," which is a good thing, but he doesn't practice what he preaches.

You have to go out and try to win football games and the conservative approach is not always the best way and trying to run down a horse after it has bolted is an all to common procedure for us lately.

It is a bit to early to draft bash and Frederick has been awesome for us while the rest need more time to be evaluated correctly, TW showed some good signs which i am happy with. Dez does need the ball thrown his way more often and rarely do we turn it over when targeting Dez as he makes something happen. I lost count of how many throws have been picked off while trying to squeeze passes to other blokes compared to when Dez is targeted.

Where did it go wrong for the Cowboys? It started to go wrong in 1994 when Jerry's true colors came out at the owner's meeting....in that infamous moment when he couldn't set his ego aside just long enough to recognize that a good boss sometimes has to let his employees bask in the glow of a job well done without worrying about taking whatever credit he deserves for himself for the good of the organization.

You have to have the willingness and the ability to learn
Garrett does not seem to have that (that is a trait he has in common with jerry) because he thinks that he is already very smart

The truth is that he is a buffoon

Jerry is a lot like Stalin. Stalin did petty much the same thing with his best General.

A war hero, hugely popular with the military, Zhukov was viewed by Stalin as a potential threat to Stalin's leadership. He replaced Zhukov with Vasily Sokolovsky on 10 April 1946. After an unpleasant session of the Main Military Council—in which Zhukov was bitterly attacked and accused of political unreliability and hostility to the Party Central Committee—he was stripped of his position as Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Ground Forces.

the diff. is Jimmy Johnson could walk away, which he did. Stalin General could walk, but shortly he be shot........

Now we have a guy who Ivy League smarts tells him it virtually never worth going for it on 4th down, that then seems to transmit to a team also lacking serious gravitas' when they really need them.

Amber, please explain the get over head coach bashing for me. I am being serious here. I would like to understand why, because the head coach will remain here because of an owner that is an ego machine isn't something we all should rally behind.

Not sure there is much different from Garrett to Campo except Romo.
