I have not had to listen to the Cowboys radio broadcast in many years, but this Sunday I was traveling and had to listen on Sirius Sat. Radio. These guys are just not that good. I found myself wondering what the outcome of the play was many times as late as the beginning of the next play. I get the feeling that they are forgetting that the listeners cannot see what is going on.

One particular play, the player caught a pass, and Brad did not give us the outcome until he informed us of the down and location of the ball just prior to the snap of the ball on the next play.

There where many times where a big play happened, but we had no idea until well after the play. It was an odd listening experience for me to say the least.

I've listened some this year and I also think Brad has slipped a bit, and I think Babe is a contributing factor. I don't care for Laughenburg (sp?) at all. I love Brad as a play by play guy. But with Babe around it seems Brad is:

a. At times more engrossed in his conversation with Babe
b. Constantly sarcastic (i.e., one upping and impressing each other)

I actually enjoy Dale Hansen as a color guy, back in the day.

BRING BACK DALE!

I enjoy the "Sony HD" spots that Babe throws out there in weird moments during the game.

I stopped listening to them, IMO they are not that good. They seemed to make too much conversation and Babe gives too many meaningless tidbits.

Brad Sham is the absolute worst.

He hasn't been close on down and distance in years.

Huh?

Man I wonder why anyone is a cowboys fan. Everyone hates everything.

Brad and babe are the best in the buisness. They have incredible chemistry, there is no better analyst than babe and kristie is an actual useful reporter from the sideline.

And she always posts pre-game and post-game videos, too!

This post is politically incorrect around here but you are absolutely right. They are really frustrating to listen to.

Preaching to the choir, man. Brad is a legend with this franchise, but the last few years he's gotten into a bad, bad habit of not doing the first job of a play by play man, which is describing the action on the field. So often, just like you said, you have to wait until well after the play is over to find out what the result was.

My guess is that he and Babe are such good friend and so comfortable with each other that he falls into a mode of casual conversation, almost like they're sitting in a bar watching the game together or something. Because when Brad does the occasional national game, like say the Cotton Bowl, with a different color man he doesn't do this at all and is very good about describing the action.

What has this got to do with me as a Cowboys fan? I was simply stating that as someone who does not listen to Cowboys games on the radio very often, these guys did not give me a positive listening experience. Go ahead and question my fan loyalty to Brad and Babe all you want, but to question my fan loyalty to the Cowboys based on my post is epic failure on your part.

Ive listened to Brad Sham for 35 years - all the way back to the Verne Lundquist team days. Guess some folks dont understand how lucky Cowboys fans are to have the great team we have doing our radio broadcast for as long as we've had them. Time for you to listen to other team's broadcasters. Nothing even comes close to Brad and Babe.

This thread is borderline asinine imo.

I have listened to other broadcasters and it does not change my opinion. These guys are no where near the best, not even close. To be fair, it was a small sample size in my case, so maybe they had an off game.

A good broadcast team paints a picture for the listener that cannot visually see the game so they can somewhat visualize what is going on. More times than not, I was struggling to figure out what was going on. Something as basic as giving me the outcome of the play was very late in coming, Sometimes as late as just before the next play.

Obviously for some around here, I have hit a raw nerve.
