Brad Sham gives opponent too much credit

I know many in here love Brad Sham. I do too, just not like I used to. Now maybe it's just me, but I've noticed Brad, who calls every game with loads of passion, giving the opponent waaaaaaay too much credit during said play. Last Sunday was no different when calling the Texans and Cowboys.

Brad seems to always raise his voice, dang near yelling when the opposing RB breaks a 4 yard gain on the Cowboys. As I'm listening, Foster literally had a 4 yard gain, but when Brad announced it, I could have swore that Foster broke a 50 yarder. Or when Dwayne Harris fumbled on the punt return, Brad raised his voice, almost in elation when the Texans recovered. Just seems bizarre, and very annoying to me.

When I listen to Bill Hillgrove, long-time Steelers announcer call a game, his voice seems to drop in agony when the Steelers cough up the ball, or when a RB or WR from the opposing team makes a play. Just very bland. Not Brad. It seems Sham gets overly excited when the other team makes a play.

I'm not saying he doesn't do the same for the Cowboys, but I've noticed all too often since I have to catch a lot of the games via internet radio that Brad is a bit over-the-top regarding the opponents. I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT!

Any takes?

Always thought he was overrated. His call of the Dez catch was unbelievably disappointing.

I think Sham is the best in the business. But I'm fine with your view. Everyone has different tastes. For me, if I could have Brad on the TV every week, I take him every time. I've never been one, though, to turn down the TV and listen to the radio. Hard to get them synced up.

I always liked Sham on his announcing, but never had to listen all that much to really notice this lately. But he does at times to seem over critical about them more than he used to be during interviews. And there is reason for that, but he seemed to pick the most minute things to be critical on IMO.

He's been bad for years now.

His down and distance is awful and he often identifies the wrong player who made or didn't make the play.

And he can make an opponents two yard run sound like Usain Bolt breaking away in a 100.

I don't think there is anybody who has ever been more undeserving of legendary status in any field.

It's that Cowboy-itis all I can tell you.
The scientist are still trying to find a cure. But I feel your discontent.
Why can't we exist in the NFL universe just like all the other teams?

I DVR games and watch them without the commercials. Or breeze by the commercials anyway.

I would like to hear Sham, and enjoy his play-by-play. But I also go back to the firing of Sham and remember how he suggested he really wanted toi do baseball, which was sour grapes after he essentially berated his boss on public radio. All because Dale Hansen got his nose out of joint about Switzer.

It is one thing to be loyal to your friend. it is a completely different thing calling your boss a liar in public.

I can compartmentalize, so I can enjoy his work. Just can't quite figure out how to record the radio and sync it with my DVR.

I agree. No matter if the local broadcasters seem to be overly critical, I would prefer to listen to them over the national broadcasters because they are keyed in on what we're doing. But like you said, can't get them to sync ... bummer.

Sham is absolutely horrible.

His call on the Dez catch was so bad.................like somebody doing play by play on the golf channel....................LOL

Like somebody else said, Sham sounded way more excited when the Texans made plays than the Cowboys. That may not be the case, but that is how it sounded on the radio in my opinion.

Personally, I do not like homer announcers. I prefer ones that call it down the middle. Being from NY, listening to Gary Cohen and Ron Darling doing the Mets calls, and hearing Bob Papa and Carl Banks do the Giant calls, you get it closer to down the middle. Both crews get super excited when their team does well, but they are more than ready to be critical of their teams during a broadcast. Sham has become a little over the top in general, and was a lot better from the calls I have heard from the 80s and 90s.

I now live in Chicago, and the all time worst is Hawk Harrelson. He is literally the most brain diseased homer on the airwaves.

Yes, Sham had truth on his side, but not too many people can keep their job and call out their boss like that. To say on the airwaves that you cannot trust a word the man says is the statement of someone with brass in his shorts.

I give Jones credit for bringing him back. Not a lot of people would have.

Yea, in the "real world" if you call your boss a liar infront of everybody...........................................you will be cleaning out your desk 10 min later.
