He was just on offering his insight. He thinks the Mingo trade is very questionable but he was defending the Trey Lance trade. His basic stance was: Sure now you can say it wasnt a good trade, but at the time, giving up a 4th for him made complete sense.

If the plan all along was to keep dak and just make lance his backup forever then hell no!!

I disagree with Sham.

Now, I am not a Qb coach or Nfl coach by any means. I dont know their plan or what happens during practices.

But if you trade a 4th rounder for Lance and he doesn’t get snaps? It’s a bad trade.

If you trade a 4th rounder, you then proceed to lose your starting QB and are pretty much all but eliminated from the playoffs AND he still doesn’t get snaps? It’s an awful trade.

Quit trying to spin this any other way than awful. I was very pro making the move for the potential But if he doesn’t even get snaps on a 5-8 team? Its a garbage trade.

He is 2-2 as a starter. So he has won games in the NFL. To not see what he offers? dumb

Jury is still out on the Mingo trade.
However, our fans convict players without evidence.

Lance trade was good at the time. However the FO screwed it up in HINDSIGHT as usual.
He needs to be playing now, actually a few games ago.

I know, Jerry thinks he is hiding him from other teams to sign him, hoping he will stay here. Possibly be the back up in 2025. Thing is what will Rush do, will he sign elsewhere.
What if Dak does not recover 100%. Or gets injured again.

Get ready for the same group at QB in 2025. As we know they will not draft a future QB before the 4th round. Well 5th round actually. Unless they trade up.

Today is my first game "out." Not starting Lance for the rest of the season is the final straw. I'll check in n the radio a little bit while I'm doing other things. It's Christmas season.

It made no sense at all. They lost a 4th, tied up a roster spot on an “emergency” QB and paid him first round money to top it off. There’s no hindsight necessary since you had a year and a half before he walks or you pay him. The huge red flag was the niners couldn’t unload him fast enough and Jerry was the only moron to bite without even consulting the HC or thinking about any long term implications!

Both trades were garbage. Both are garbage players

That's not what happened.
When they completely overpaid to get him and then sold him for pennies just to unload the contract it’s exactly what happened. He had no business on the roster and the niners knew it.

Right. Regardless, he needed reps, and the only way that was ever going to happen was if Prescott was injured early LAST season. Then Lance tore it up and they retained him over Dak. He probably wouldn’t have even known the offense well enough at that point.

That was worth a 4th to a team that uses draft only?

At least with the Mingo trade you have him two more years and not as if we didn’t need a WR2. Problem there is the player in a more than likely a bust.

Jerry can’t seem to get it through his head that the going rate for busts is swapping 6ths and 7ths. There’s times he wants to play with his toy, and thats what you end up with.

I just have to note that the Steelers got Fields for a 6th a few months after the Cowboys got Lance for a 4th.

Fields is better than Lance. I know that's not saying much but still.

The issue isn't trading for Lance. The issue is Jerry's insistence on overpaying for everyone and everything and then trying to sell himself as a master business man deal maker.

What makes the Lance trade look so bad is they won't even play him with Dak injured and an ineffective backup in Rush out there.

No it did not.

Jerry said his plan was to always resign Dak and that Trance was not a threat to him. So what was the point on trading for him?
