He is a run blocking FB who was just released by the chiefs. I wouldn't mind carrying a true fullback for when you need one goal line, 3rd/4th and short, and to close out a game.

This offense doesnt need a fb. A lot of teams are going away from having a fb

Why would they pick up a FB now? They've made the switch to the 12 so that would make no sense. If he is good why did they release him?

Can he play H Back? If he can, Wilson would be a good pick up for the PS and challenge Rosario next season. Doubt he can learn the offense this late to be of much help this season.

He is tall enough to convert to TE at almost 6-4.

He had the same forty time as Rosario and Escobar.

If he can catch worth a lick, then he is already a better prospect than Rosario, especially as a blocker out of the backfield and on ST. Wilson hits like a ton of bricks.

The 53 roster spot is going to either Alex Tanney, a 6th receiver like Armstrong or Coale, or another OL or DL. No room for a fullback.

I don't get the Cowboys love for Rosario. He is not a strong on-the-line blocker and he has missed many open field blocks. Also, he has dropped several balls in the preseason games.

Andre Smith is a better on-the-line blocker. Smith and Rosario had the same timed speed.

I don't understand the infatuation some people have with the fullback in this day and age. Give it up.

FWIW, I agree. I think between Witten, Hanna, and Escobar... we have multiple receiving options.

I know they like Rosario's special teams help... but I think having a fourth TE who can block would be nice.

Maybe they plan on carrying 5 TE's though... ? Could be done.

5 WR, 5 TE, 3 RB, 2 QB, 10 OL.

You could even drop an OL and keep a fourth RB, or another WR, or perhaps Tanney.

i agree. smith is a very good blocker and has some recieving skills. may have trouble blocking in space which most te's do but rosario has'nt impresed me all that much. he is a good st player though

I'm tore between the idea of keeping Rosario on the 53 and letting him go and keeping Andre Smith on the practice squad. Part of me wants to keep him because he is a good special teams player and a good 4th option at TE but thats my problem how valuable is a 4th TE? you can always activate Smith if an injury came to one of the top 3 TE's. I kind of like the idea of keeping Tanney and grooming him into a back up, and who knows what happens with Romo 3 or 4 years down the road. I se more value in doing that than carrying Rosario, but thats just my opinion.

either way i don't think signing this fb makes a lot of sense

I agree with your thoughts on Rosario and Smith. I also agree that a FB makes no sense at this time.

My dilemma is that I really like Smith and Armstrong but I don't think both can make the 53-man roster. Am I wrong?

yeah i think it will either be Smith, Roasario or Tanney for 1 spot.... I really like Smith and Tanney. I think Smith would make it through waivers to our PS but I could be wrong. I also don't think Tanney would make it through waivers, someone will grab him if he doesn't make our 53. Kind of sucks we don't have the luxury of keeping both of them, so they got a decision to make

Once again I agree with everything you say. :)

I have believed for weeks now that Tanney is on the 53-man roster. They would not have exposed him so much if they did not think he was worth the playing time.

I also think Smith can sneak onto the PS easier than Tanney so I think he is a final cut. I'm pulling for Armstrong to make the team as the sixth WR; Coale and Benford are done.

I think Coale and Benford will make it to the PS, I like Armstrong too but it's going to be tough to carry 4 rb's 4 TE's and 6 WR's, i don't see a way of them doing that especially if they keep Tanney as a 3rd QB. I'm not sure what kind of special teams value Armstrong has but if its not a lot they won't carry a 6th receiver because Beasley as the 5th WR already had no ST value at all

Go look at the film....these tight ends that are lead blocking are being pushed back into the running plays where as a good lead fullback makes a push and gives a hole for the running back......that's the reason why I want a true fullback. Plus there are at least 4-5 plays a game where you come across 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1.
