One of the best in the game vs the run, one of the worst in the game vs the pass. This is a passing league, do the math. Can we give Jason Williams some reps already? Somebody posted earlier this year with Keith Brooking and Bradie James playing ILB teams were going to exploit that. Props on the call because it's very true. Brooking has been burned on a bunch of pass plays as well. I still say either Butler or Octavien or both should learn to play both inside and outside LB positions because we need the speed....

Now that is a good idea which would require a creative coach with a big set....our coach has neither. Forget it, just won't happen.

Hes terrible in space. Always has been.

Last year he was really effective rushing as a blitzer from the outside so hopefully we will see some of that Saturday since Demarcus is out.

If we dont make the playoffs than I hope we go after a McClain or Spikes.

Speed is great however Butler may want to learn how to hold up vs the run he is did a crappy job of that when Ware went down and LT started having success. I have no issue with bringing in better coverage guys at LB in nickle situations I be damned if I would go with some light weight at ILB and watch teams ram the ball down our throats.

Jason Williams Is A Safety At The Inside Linebacker Damn Hhe Might Even Be Faster Thhan Most Safeties Hes 4.4 Inside Linebacker....bye Bye Carpenter....uuuu Spikes Or Mcclain Won't Hurt...sounds Good Even If We Were To Win A Playoff Game

Bradie James is one of the core players on this team that just isn't getting the job done.

I didn't see Butler playing poorly vs the run, I saw the exact opposite..

Well then we saw something different. Dallas was stopping LT all game long and then Butler comes in and we can't seem to stop their run. Butler is a pass rusher that is it he is not ready to take over for anyone. All this crying over Butler because he had 3 sacks 2 coming late in the Carolina game when it was over with. I like him as a role player at this stage but he did nothing when he came in for Ware

They were running up the middle successfully, that I do recall...

Not all of them were up the middle and the longest run on a 2nd and long which gave them a 1st was bounced to the outside. As for James yes it is a mismatch when he is matched up with a players like Gates hell that is a mismatch for most LB in the NFL. I'm not going to jump James and trash him because of that for the most part James does a good job not outstanding but does a good job up the middle along with Brooking.

I posted last night that I'd be willing to give James another chance because of what he did last year. The conditions are that he must:

a) lose 10-15 lbs
b) improve his reading and reacting of offenses
c) improve his footspeed.

but this is his last chance. I don't think he's looked all that good against the run either. They've been plenty of times where he's misread the holes or his keys and RBs have gained significant yardage because of it. And, of course, there's the Brandon Jacobs 70 yards TD thing..

James is JAG...no more...he is not ever going to make a game changing play..

With great disappointment, I find myself agreeing with you.

Yup.

James, Flo, Newman, Gurode...all of them have maxed out in terms of talent and are either on the downside of their careers or in the all-talk and no-walk category.

This core needs to be replaced ASAP.

Agreed, they are the "core" and Dallas in trouble until they fix it.

He consistently takes terrible angles toward ball carriers in the open field.

i think he's the worst cover LB i've ever seen. guy can't cover me and i'm an over 50 washed up former college WR.

I'm already scared for him. Sean Payton is gonna target him like crazy.

:(
