Two plays. Not much of a resume. But I will give him credit he showed some nice moves on those 2 plays. Let's see the rest of them now?

I am actually an Anae fan. But he is not what I hoped he would be. I still think he needs to stop jumping into his moves. His feet leave the ground and a smart experienced OT will hit him while he is in the air when he has no leverage.

I'm a big fan of Anae's potential and think he has pass rush moves, but this is kind of a stretch. First off it was Slater's second game ever so let's not declare him elite. Second, he "beat" him twice all game. Once he still completed the pass and the other time Herbert rolled the other way and the RB faked his side so Slater's main job was to keep Anae outside and deep.
That's fine, but I think this was also Anea's second game, he did not play last year, but he should of...

Film don't lie... coming out of Utah Anae had pass rush skills, and it's translating. Shame on Tomsula/Nolan for buying #56 on the bench last year. Cowboys pass rush could be pretty good if everyone gets healthy at the same time.

The coaches hate their jobs and they keep Anae on the bench because they hope to be fired.

What other possible explanation could there be for Anae's limited playing time?

The coaches see him everyday and the coaches spend many hours per day reviewing game footage.

The coaches must sit around and laugh about screwing Jerry over by no playing Anae.
He’s unavailable, spent TC injured and now has COVID, either unlucky or unfortunate he can’t take advantage of his opportunity

With Armstrong in a contract year and might not be back next year, I don’t understand why Anae isn’t getting some of Armstrong’s reps. Need to see which is better. With Armstrong out for a while, might get to see.

Also with Lawrence out, it opens up more chances for Anae. Too bad Anae is probably out this week.

There really was no explanation for not playing Anae the second half of last season.
Could get a nice comp pick if Armstrong balls out…I suspect though Armstrong is a great practice player and flashes all practice long.

Just a guess on my part but I think Armstrong plays at 80-85% the level of Lawrence right now. Armstrong has improved his play and Lawrence has slipped.

I think Armstrong has played pretty well the first two games.

Some video evidence of Anae beating Rashawn Slater with nasty pass rush moves.

This guy needs more playing time.

I read right here he is just terrible and kamara out played him, though they both had the same number of tackles

The coaches purposely sabotaging their own job theory is ridiculous. It is obvious they simply want to protect the legacy of one Lawrence Taylor.

Jokes aside I want to see more of the real #56.
I don’t think it’s sabotage
But some players play better than they practice
He only has 39 career snaps but he’s shown good moves and power
I don’t think he’s the second coming but he should be getting more snaps

What he needs is snaps

This dude was a terror in the Pac-12. Why they dint let him loose is beyond me, but then again I'm not in the practices or meetings so who knows.

As much as I enjoy laughing at these and the Issac Garcia threads, I think you know coaches don’t always make the right call. I recall you saying as much with Jeremy Parnell, no?

A couple of nice clips for sure....and amazing that there was no holding call against Slater on that second one.

Actually, it's not all that amazing because it's not holding. When a defender uses a "rip" technique, that is one of the exemptions that's part of the rule where holding will not be called. One of about 10.

Rule 12
ARTICLE 3. ILLEGAL BLOCK BY OFFENSIVE PLAYER.
It is a foul if an offensive blocker:
.
.
(c) Uses his hands or arms to materially restrict or alter the defender’s path or angle of pursuit. It is a foul regardless of whether
the blocker’s hands are inside or outside the frame of the defender’s body. Material restrictions include but are not limited to:
(1) grabbing or tackling an opponent;
(2) hooking, jerking, twisting, or turning him; or
(3) pulling him to the ground.
Penalty: For holding by the offense: Loss of 10 yards.
Blocking Notes:
(1) When a defensive player is held by an offensive player during the following situations, Offensive Holding will not be
called:

(a) if the runner is being tackled simultaneously by another defensive player;
(b) if the runner simultaneously goes out of bounds;
(c) if a Fair Catch is made simultaneously;
(d) if the action clearly occurs after a forward pass has been thrown to a receiver beyond the line of scrimmage;
(e) if the action occurs away from the point of attack and not within close-line play;
(f) if a free kick results in a touchback;
(g) if a scrimmage kick simultaneously becomes a touchback;
(h) if the action is part of a double-team block, unless the defender splits the double team, gets to the outside of either
blocker, or is taken to the ground; or
(i) if, during a defensive charge, a defensive player uses a “rip” technique that puts an offensive player in a position
that would normally be holding.
Exception: Holding will be called if the defender’s feet are taken away from him by the blocker’s action.

(2) If a blocker falls on or pushes down a defender whose momentum is carrying him to the ground, Offensive Holding will

not be called unless the blocker prevents the defender from rising from the ground.
(3) If the official has not seen the entire action that sends a defender to the ground, Offensive Holding will not be called.
