Brady made a good comment, about teams needing to just move forward

Many drives are halting by negative plays, penalties/sacks/tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Successful offensive teams, are consistently in 3rd and three or less cause they move forward and avoid such plays. Very hard to consistently drive the ball when you are in 3rd and long's.

This pretty much describes the Cowboy Offense. You can make the argument that our defense never gets their opponent in third and longs as well, when do we ever see negative plays by the opposing offense?

On offense, you always want to move forward, never go backwards penalties. This is not a new revelation. Because Tom Brady said so. same thing to be said for the defense, you don’t want to go backwards on your own account . There’s always negative plays by other teams offense. It takes great coaching discipline to be flag free.

Very very rarely if that!!! To us it happens FAR too often!!!! Then we get to the red zone, and it's like a signal comes off to all of the players saying "we don't want to score a touchdown!" penalty comes, or a sack, FG time!!!

GM Jethro likes to move sideways.

Yep, it all goes back to run the ball and stop the run. When you do these two things the rest of the game is a lot easier.

This franchise has made football look hard for a very long time. These penalties and false starts have happened under JG and MM.

When I watch other playoff caliber teams they play good ball. Of course they make errors but for some reason the Cowboys seem more boneheaded.

The cowboys commit a ton of penalties and can’t run the ball.

Those two issues need to be fixed if they want to consistently be in 3rd and manageables.

Because they can’t run the ball they really shouldn’t even be doing it on 1st down or 2nd and long because it’s just killing the offense and making it harder and harder to convert first downs.

good luck when the whole team is soft and weak mentaly and the qb is the softest and weakest of them all

Dallas has been doing this for years. They've just been good enough offensively in past seasons to overcome the negative plays.

2 things that should have happened during the bye week. Smith at LT and Guyton at RT. Dak needs better protection with no run game.

Need more I-back formation with a Hunter leading the way for Rico.

Make an attempt to trade Steele.

Lack of discipline, lack of talent…it’s not one thing but yes on first down you need to get some yards on first. Cowboys either get negative yardage or a holding penalty.

Lack of discipline with a lack of talent is a horrendous combination.

Likewise, flip that around on teh defense. Don't give up 7 or 8 yards on first down and force the opponent into 3rd and long situations. get some negative plays - TFLs, Sacks.

The Cowboys defense has been awful this year giving up 8-12 yards plays to allow teams to stay on the field.

We have a chance to give up the most rushing yards in a season. I know, it's Dak's fault.

Terrible and predictable scheme, poor route concepts, poor individual effort to create separation (besides CeeDee), no juice from RB's, way too often does this team settle for checkdowns and thn eventually field goals.

Fire anyone you are not married to and bring in coaches with modern offensive concepts and players with speed. Stop trying to go back in time and run 90s offenses.
