Please dont hate on me for this when i am done, but after a little comparison of those two QB's i found their #'s to be scary similar to each other......

T.R Career - 95.5 rating- 64.0 Comp % - 191.2 yds per game - 122 TD (5.6%) 64 INT (2.9%)

T.B Career - 95.7 Rating - 63.8 Comp % 243.7 yds per game - 272 TD (5.6%) - 108 INT (2.2%)

now compare Superbowls..

sorry, you knew it was coming

yep, i didn't think it would be post #2 though.......

takes a team effort.........and lots of factors go into a SB run, but you know that, and i know that...i dont count rings....

I dont blame Romo either...

Nor do i put him in the same line as Brady...but in comparison they are closer then I thought

That is incorrect because it includes games where he was the holder or was active and not just those where he played QB. Romo has QB'd in 64 games and passed for 17592 yards.

The correct number is: 274.9 yards per game, behind only Kurt Warner all-time!

If Romo's only averaging 190 yards passing a game then you must be counting games he didn't play the full 4 quarters or something.

Romo throws for 200 in his sleep on Sundays.

Romo's YPG is actually a bit better than 250. You can't count the 16 games he didn't play in 05-06. And he didn't start playing until a few games into the season in '06.

Beat me to it.

I knew that had to be wrong. In terms of pure raw passing stats, Romo is a top 5-10 QB of all time at his current pace.

Now of course he's not. Not even close. But those are the numbers.

Why of course?

Two bolded statements seem contradictory, to say the least.

daggonit, that is in fact true....is there a separate stat that shows all his numbers (for starts) ???

nice catch and thanks !

I looked at those stats before and I think your yds per game are wrong. it includes games where he was the holder but did not play qb.

Because there's much more to QB play than passing stats. That's why.

Romo doesn't amount to a pimple on the backsides of greats like Montana, Brady, Elway, Aikman right now.

Can't believe ¨cut Romo, trade Romo, I'm tired on Romo threads¨. He´s top five Qb on my list.

Because the liberalized passing rules are blowing out all the QB stats.

As of last week the league wide average QB passer rating was 90.7

In 1993, the year before roughing-the-passer rules got teeth, just three players finished above 90.7: Hall of Famers Steve Young, Troy Aikman and John Elway. The NFL average that year was 76.7.

No, not all QBs sucked before this last 10 year period.

So, to answer you question.. Yes Tony Romo is a good QB. And No, he isn't anywhere near on of the 10 QBs in NFL history.

Romo's career numbers say that he IS a top-10 QB:

All-Time:
1st in net yards per attempt
2nd in yards per game
4th in yards per attempt (the 3 ahead of him retired before 1961)
5th in passer rating
8th in pass completion %
32nd in INT% (lowest that is)
21st in TD%

All he needs is 10 SB victories and MAYBE people will start to appreciate him.

I think this statement is beyond absurd.

There's also much more to winning championships than QB play.

Romo has accomplished things Montana, Elway and Aikman never have. To say he doesn't amount to a pimple on their backsides is asinine.

By that logic Otto Graham is the John Wooden of QBs, no one comes within a hundred light-years of his numbers considering the era he posted them.

What I'm saying is to dismiss it out of hand, when his career isn't near complete yet is ridiculous. The guy has had an incredible start to his career. To discount him as not being anything but a pimple on the backside of Elway, Aikman or Montana is crazy.

I would be willing to bet the above QBs have much more respect for his game than you do.
