Talk me out of it.

How many holes does this team really have? How many areas could be improved? You have to think that Kyle Kosier is one player that could easily be upgraded.

And there's so much money invested on our offensive line, it would be nice to add a good, young, cheap player to that mix. A guy that will be a staple for the next 6+ years.

I know, I know. Conentional thinking says you don't spend 1st round picks on Guards but that might be the safest use of a first rounder. Those guys hardly ever flop and are the ones you regularly see in the Pro Bowl or getting big free agent deals.

Every draft service on the planet has Albert as the best guard available. Mike Mayock said he was one the best guards he'd EVER evaluated. He even has the potential to move outside to OT in a pinch.

I know everyone wants the CB/WR/RB holy trinity but I wouldn't be upset at all to hear Branden Albert's name called at #28.

I won't try and talk you out of it. I think it would be a steal.

I wouldn't mind. I was hoping for Justin Blalock last year.

I'd do it. I said back in February that drafting immediate starters (guard or inside LB) in the 1st round would not disappointment me.

Kansas City needs to fill 3 holes on their O-Line in this draft and word is that they LOVE Branden Albert and really wanted him with their early 2nd but it's becoming pretty apparent he won't last that long. With no sure thing OT available at #5 (assuming Jake Long is gone which he will be), it might make sense for them to trade down.

If only there was a team with two low first rounders who might be interested in trading up to the top 5 for some kind of running back. Hmm, no one comes to mind.........

But if it did happen, the Chiefs could take Jeff Otah, Chris Williams, or Gosder Cherilus at #22 and then come back with Albert at #28. That would fix that OL real fast.

For all the reasons you mentioned, I really hope the Skins take him at #21. We are getting really old along the line and could use some young blood. Our starters are aged 30, 34, 30, 32, 32. That doesn't bode well.

As for conventional wisdom, I agree that it's silly to overlook guards. They do seem to be one of the safer picks, and with guards now making $7m per season, it looks like a good place to get cheaper. I'd much rather take a guard than role the dice on a wide receiver. Just look at Calvin Johnson. For all of his talent, he didn't have a very big impact on the Lions' fortunes. The Cardinals have two great receivers and nothing to show for it. It all starts on the lines, offensive and defensive.

I wouldn't be against it, as long as a Cornerback has been taken at #22.

Our OL is solid......and we spent two high picks last yr on young OL.....we better pick a position of more need.

I like Albert in the late first! We laymen pretty much agree that Kosier is an upgrade in waiting... why not replace him cheaply with what appears to be a perennial pro-bowler? Lineman play for 8-12 years, lets invest in our franchise QB's health early in his career. The only things we truly NEED in this draft are a nickel corner and a RB to spell Barber. There won't be many players with the ability to start for us where we pick this year, I would like to see at LEAST one starter drafted with our first three picks (not just a return specialist either).

I have no problem with is, so long as he is a good value when we pick.

We have a lot of money tied up at LT, RG, and OC. And our OL is all around 30+ heading into this season. We will need some young guys in the next couple of years. Adding Albert to Marten, McQuistan, and Free would be nice. Hopefully a couple of the Marten/McQ/Free end up panning out as legitimate starters.

Agree completely, Kosier is not as bad as some make him out to be IMO. Plus O-Line is the best part of our team right now.

He'd be a hell of a RT, if we intend to let Colombo walk, and I suspect we will.

It won't shock me at all if we do because he's going to want money similar to Flo and BIGG this time.

Hopefully we're already prepared for that with McQ/Free/Marten. Whoever...I just really doubt Colombo comes back. I think he'll get big money, but not from us.

We very well could be set if he leaves, but I never balk at drafting quality OL.

Good luck with that. I could see McQ replacing Columbo and Free becoming the swing tackle.

At some point we HAVE to put one of the young, cheap guys out there.

I don't have a huge problem with it, and I could see it happening potentially, but only if we got the CB we wanted at 22 and figured we might be able to wiggle around a little bit and get a WR and RB that we're after in the second round.
