I'm almost glad we lost out on Nnamdi last year, not in the sense that we had to watch Newman completely blow it, but by signing Carr I think we ended up with a better corner for years to come with more attitude and a his best years to come. Nnamdi was already in his 30s, Carr is entering his prime, and from what I understand the Chief's brass is upset they didn't even really have a chance to deal with him - Dallas wanted him and wasn't gonna miss on their guy this year.

I'm not a scout but one thing I notice about Carr is that he's always in good position. He seems to always be on the WRs hip, tends to have a second gear to bait QBs, is physical, can play press, zone, can tackle, forces fumbles, and is an overall solid football player. Notice how he's rarely out of position, diagnoses plays quickly and seems to really play with a passion. Has really good hands for a corner, doesn't bite on double moves and pump fakes, doesn't give up many plays down the field, rarely lets his guy get behind him, and plays the ball well in the air. My kinda corner.

I can see us using him in a similar fashion that we used with Newman in his prime, have him shadowing the team's best receiver - but with the emergence of Jenkins he may strictly be a guy that stays at the position he's most comfortable.

Stats:

Height: 6'0
Weight: 207
Forty: 4.44

44 tackles, 4 picks, 28 pass breakups out of 97 passes thrown his way. Second only to Joe Haden (30).

Carr: QB rating when thrown at = 61.7 (13th)

Jenkins: QB rating when thrown at = 88.5 (65th)

And Jenkins had a pretty solid year.

Our secondary immediately went from a weakness to a strength, add Connor, and potentially another impact pass rusher and this defense won't be top 5 good, but it doesn't have to be - it just can't be awful again. Our offense is good enough to put up enough points to win, but now we can look forward to some turnovers, short fields, and a unit that doesn't have any glaring weaknesses. Because like Bill Walsh said, "You can hide a hole on offense based on your play calling, but you can't hide em on defense." Look no furthur than last year where we had at least 3-4 guys that really weren't starting caliber, whom all have been immediately upgraded by guys that are younger, faster, and better.

And if ya don't know, now ya know.

He's always within arms reach of the receiver which I think relates to how many passes deflected he's had over the past couple of years. I like where he lines up before the snap as well, directly in front of the WR and not 5-7 yards away like we saw so many times this year. Thanks for posting the video.

I like how he always looks back for the ball and fights for it. Well at least in those highlights

I wholeheartedly agree. I'm happier getting Carr in light of the close-but-no-cigar missing out on Nnamdi that we had last year. I truly believe Carr will fill the CB bill better ... longer ... for the Dallas Cowboys.

Probably something we should realllly be listening to right now cause there is alot of truth and wisdom in that statement.

Last years D woulda been one and done in the playoffs anyway.

I like his ability to get in position to make a play on the ball in this video.

Still, I'm trying not to get too excited about highlight videos. It's not like we'll face one of Caleb Hanie, Bruce Gradkowski, Kerry Collins, Brady Quinn, or Tim Tebow every week.

True, thats last year though, Carr does fill a big hole.

Walsh is right though, on D, all an offense will do is concentrate on beating you in your weak spot on D like they did last year with TNew. Problems on offense are different and can be schemed around.

No, but he played one of his best games against the Packers O.

That will be a pleasant change.

Campo coaching our DBs to not play the ball has costed this team so many turnovers through the years.

This years group I expect to play with much better ball skills.
