Brandon MaGee knows Monte's scheme

Very good article. Young man seems very happy to be a Cowboy. Look forward to following him all through off season and the upcoming season.

Seems like a student when it comes to the x's and o's...Dat and Coakley come to mind.

I know next to nothing about this guy. Someone tell me at least, is he better or worse than Burflict coming out of ASU?

Completely different prospects, but I'd say worse.

Once anyone with size gets on him, he's often eliminated from the play. He's got some potential as a special teamer though, and that's where he'll need to be lights out to have any hope of making the 53.

I don't really agree that he isn't as good a prospect as Burfect.

That's why this is the absolute best defensive scheme for Magee that there is. He will have guys on him less than in any other scheme and he will be free to run to the ball/play in coverage.

I'm not saying he's a shoe-in to make the team and contribute on defense, but I'd say that because we're running Kiffin's scheme, he has a solid chance to be a real player in Dallas. Smart and athletic as hell. That's what Kiffin wants and needs in his scheme.

The team valued him super highly for a reason.

He's a coverage LB who is only a Will in base sets and may be really just a nickel/dime player but he has a role on the team and could be an upgraded danny mccray.

Sounds like a very interesting candidate as a third-down linebacker in passing situations.
