Braxton Miller in the 4th?

Here is my reasons why Braxton Miller would be a great pick in the 4th round.

He is ranked the 130th player overall. And depending on comp picks, we would be using that comp pick around 130th.
He is 6-1, 215 pounds. And fast, elusive, quick.

Yes, only one year at WR in NCAA, and is ranked the 18th best WR at this point. And a 4th round projection.

Now it takes most WR's 3 years to really adjust and get it in the NFL.

So he can learn but still contribute as a WR. He brings the speed and can stretch the field.
He can take over Dunbar's role, he can run or catch those short yards and screen passes and run a long way.
He can also be a threat to throw a pass, or take off running if need be.
Also, why not see if he can return kicks and punts with his speed and moves.
Can be a 4th emergency QB.

I would even think he could be considered a late 3rd if a trade down happens to get an extra 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Notable 4th rounders in recent years.

Anthony Hitchens
BW Webb
Matt Johnson
David Arkin
Akwasi Owusu-Ansah

No more projects in the 4th round. Get a bona fide player, a good start would be Deon Bush from Miami.

I bet he goes undrafted unless someone takes a flyer on him in the 7th.......... a la Nick Marshall.

He's just a name...There's absolutely no reason to draft him over guys that have been playing the position for years and are just as big and athletic. If his name wasn't on ESPN a lot the past couple years no one would care.

If we get, and we should get a 4th round comp pick, we will have 2 4th round picks.
Hitchens was a pretty good pick, and we never knew on Johnson as injuries derailed him.
Not many teams hit on 4th round picks every year. Not saying Miller would be better, but he certainly can't be worse. Someone needs to be picked.

So what makes Bush a better 4th rounder than Miller. They are ranked 4th rounders for a reason.

And he wouldn't be a project. Kind of what Jaguars did with Dennard Robinson. He stepped in and contributes.

Doubt that happens. Urban Meyer said he expected him to run a 4.4 at the combine. If that happens with the way he looks with the ball in his hands, I guarantee somebody drafts him.

I am looking at him for a player that helps in multiple areas, not just a WR that will be stuck at the bottom of the depth chart from the 4th round. Devin Street was productive for years at Pitt, but look what he has done, or hasn't done with his years of NCAA WR experience. Yes he was a 5th round, not 4th round, but that is not a huge difference at that point for a WR.

One's a project and the other isn't still learning a position.

And Robinson didn't step in and contribute until year two. This team doesn't have the luxury of drafting gimmick offensive players that are going to be wide receivers, running backs, and QB all rolled into one. Who you kidding, nobody but the QB is throwing the ball in this offense anyway.

You make a lot of sense but remember two things. 1) Jerry loves to swing for the fences in the middle to late rounds. 2) They are going to be coaching him at the senior bowl next week. I got a feeling his athleticism is going to wow em.

Would rather target P. Cooper in the 3rd-4th depending on where he ends up being graded.

He is easily one of the best athletes in the draft. I'll be shocked if he makes it to the 3rd round.

I like Braxton and Braylon Addison. Both dudes have serious speed.

You left out the fact that they can both return kicks/punts. They're dangerous and that's a nice element to have.

I don't know if our offense can actually take advantage of their speed though.

I would certainly consider it.

Miller has good athleticism and he did not look overwhelmed at all in that role this year.

Former QBs can make good receivers simply due to their understanding of route concepts and also being able to have a working knowledge of how to read coverages.

And with the way we run option routes, that skill alone is pretty intriguing.
