So Garrard ended the contract process Monday, signing a seven-year, $60 million contract that is the richest in franchise history.

Garrard and his agent, Albert Irby, had been seeking something similar to the six-year, $67.5 million contract Dallas quarterback Tony Romo signed last season.

Honestly - I am shocked. I don't think Garrard is that good.

Would anyone here have signed him to those numbers? Not me!

It's pretty much the going rate...and I think he does deserve it.

18 TD's 3 INT's is pretty damn good. I'll take that ratio any day. Give the guy some receivers not named Matt Jones and who knows...

I don't think Troy Williamson is the answer either. :D

I don't think Garrard will be a big numbers guy, but he is effective at what he does. His biggest plus is that he won't kill you with turnovers and sacks at inopportune times. Good decision maker who will get rid of the ball. Oh and he's run for 19 first downs...

He's a solid QB and if we didn't have Romo, I wouldn't turn my nose up at Garrard.

Reminds of Jeff Garcia actually. Plays really similar.

I'm always glad to see a ECU Pirate get his pay day. Garrard is a good guy and I'm not going to say he doesn't deserve his money.

Don't ever doubt the boy can sling the ball. I think his style fits very well with what Jacksonville is trying to do. Strong defense, strong running game & a QB that can make plays and not hurt you.

On top of all that, Del Rio knows he can trust DG to put in his work and be there for his team. Something he couldn't get out of Leftwich.

I read he asked for Romos contract and they counteroffered Schaub money (6 year 48) Garrard seems like a good guy but NOONE in the NFL deserves what they are paid.

Speaking of which, I read in PFW that JAX might release Jones. Talk about a draft-day gamble not working out...

I think he's a terrific game manager and he can make all the throws. QB's get overpaid in general.

Rothlisberger had never thrown more than 18 TD's his first three years, managed 32 and got 100 million dollars as a reward. The year they won the Superbowl, he only threw 17 regular season TD's.

Garrard is the man. He takes care of the ball just the way Del Rio wants, he can make first downs with his legs, and he's a good guy and good leader. If you have a guy like him, you can't let him go and start over from scratch. That no-interception stretch he had last year was amazing.

Garrard has been a pleasant suprise for Jax. A real find. They seem to have found their version of Tony Romo.

I do think that this year will tell alot though.

Now that they have enough film on him :lmao:

In college is was a big numbers guy, look at the WR's he had to work with in Jacksonville... Give him a sure number 1 guy and he'll put up big time numbers.

He is a guy I wouldn't mind bringing in for the minimum, no signing bonus. Basically a tryout, he has talent, he just hasn't used it yet. But I'm sure someone like the Commanders or Raiders will sign him to a big contract, and we can all laugh at them.

I like him, a lot, and I think he's worth it. Like some others said he's a good decision maker who doesn't kill you with mistakes. He had a great 18-3 TD to INT ratio and I think if he had anything at WR that was actually worth a crap those TD numbers would be much better.

But, beyond that, Jacksonville is a tough, run first and play solid defense team. He's not going to be asked to put up Brady or Manning numbers. I like him. Good for him.
