A bit concerning that all but one of those sacks came with the presence of Greg Hardy on the field, which is obviously not the case any longer.

The defensive coordinator himself has made mention of how Lawrence benefitted from the attention that Hardy drew. With this current group, I expect opposing offenses to give that attention to Lawrence now.

So inversely if we now finally have a guy on the field that can draw the doubles which we haven't had the first 4 weeks it will make it easier on the other guys to break free with single blocking.

A bunch were with Gregory in the lineup.

Which probably tells us that the zero career sack stoner likely is about as useless as any other JAG even when he is eligible to play.

Time to put some more resources into the DE position. Like an entire draft's worth of picks if the current scouts whiff at such a high rate.

They still have to win the one-on-ones ... and they're not doing that now.

The good news for Lawrence is if he starts at right end, he probably won't be doubled a lot unless he shows he's trouble for teams' left tackle. Most teams, if they have a good one, tend to leave those guys on an island unless they are facing a player they just can't contain.

Is he playing this Sunday then? Hard to keep track of all these suspensions.

Then we should expect someone else to step up finally.

Shouldn't that say the opposite that he isn't useless?

If none of these guys are winning 1 on 1 battles before..they aren't going to win 1 on 1 battles now...most of these guys already had 1 on 1s all game every game for 4 weeks and have done nothing

My reaction was, "wow, Gregory did actually play quite a bit last year and he still didn't notch a sack."

When you are on the field with T. Crawford, Hardy, and Lawrence, I'm pretty sure you are the guy getting the single team. If you're still pitching a career sack shutout you are doing it wrong.

But hey, he beat a couple of scrubs in the second halves of some preseason games so I'm sure the Jerry hype meter is still pegged.

In theory yes...
However in reality I don't think Lawrence has produced at a level that has offensive coordinators up at night trying to make sure they have him doubled.
He may be the best of the group but that doesn't make him the best. Lawrence will have his share of 1 on 1's. Not may DE's are really doubled when the RB who stays back are also focused on picking up the potential blitzing LBers more than a DE who may or may not get the edge.
